I use the Silhouettes, if I tape them down, they'll stay in well although I had a few "oops" pullouts before I learned that. That's usually 15+ miles @ 80+ degrees fahrenheit, which isn''t going to happen around here for a while anyway!

Just tried the Spring Universal Infusion Set for the first time. Has anyone else tried it or other universal sets?
I found it was much easier to insert than the QuickSet and I think it won't come off as easily when I run - need to wait for a final answer on that.

And, I know that until folks with diabetes who are fit and active, give TeamWILD a try, it's just me saying it's good stuff. With that in mind, we just gave the Tour de Cure 93 14 week cycling training programs for each Tour in the USA to use as an incentive prize for both recruiting more Red Riders (cyclists with diabetes - the recognition program I created and gave to the American Diabetes Association 6 years ago after surviving cancer and getting tons of celebration for being a cancer surviving athlete.) We did that, gave all those programs away, because there isn't anything out there quite like what we've created at TeamWILD for people with diabetes and it's a little complicated to explain the intense integration of delivery that we have created. I was a high school principal and educator for 20 years before starting TeamWILD and my specialty is individual education in a group context... so weirdly teaching and empowering people with diabetes around being athletic is much the same. We are all so different yet we learn well within a group context. And that's what I've put together with TeamWILD. I really wanted experts talking to each other - athletic coaches, diabetes educators who themselves are athletes, exercise physiologists, sports dietitians who get dietitians, mental skills experts - all who listen and who have big tool boxes of ideas and strategies. That's why there are 10 coaches who work with TeamWILD. And I'm very fussy about who I will hire... they have to be super smart, understand diabetes, be athletes themselves, and be incredible listeners!!!

Hi all. So one of you brought up the cost of the training plans, specifically marathon training (or 100 mile cycling or 70.3 triathlon) programs that TeamWILD offers. I'll see if I can explain. They aren't just ordinary training plans. They are week by week plans with videos and detailed workouts from the athletic coach, plus there is detailed type 1 or type 2 diabetes education each week, plus there is nutrition education that relates to endurance sports and diabetes by sports dietitians, plus there is 3 times through the 18 week program mental skills coaching from a mental skills coach who specializes in working with athletes with diabetes. Plus, a few times through the time you are with us on a plan, live teleseminars with the coaches/diabetes & athletic coaches. Plus, you can ask as many questions as you want and even get a fair amount of individual consultation with the coaches as you train. So, the price of $595 for 18 weeks, by the market research we did, is actually a really good deal. My business advisors wanted me to charge quite a bit more. I want to make these plans available. That's the point. And I also need to be able to pay the coaching staff for the incredible work they did and do to make the programs a reality and to support the athletes. And, to kickstart TeamWILD, we're offering all the programs at 30% discount until Feb 15. I hope some of you here consider trying a plan out and maybe reporting back to the group if you got your monies worth. It's my intention to serve the diabetes community the way I really wanted when I assembled my own team a few years ago to help me do my first 100 mile bike ride and my first marathon! Bonking is usually thought of as hitting a level of glycogen depletion that causes your system to switch to burning more fat, and there is a blood sugar drop associated with it.

AR, I don't think "bonking" is blood sugar related. Maybe more lactic acid build up.

Re "not having diabetes", I suspect that a lot of "straight" people without diabetes would benefit from having a CGM when they are training as a "bonkometer"?
