That looks like a great race Nel! I ran a PR in a 5K today. I did a couple of weeks of hard intervals on the treadmill and 5K "long runs" on the weekend and got my time down. I also put 10 more lbs on the weights for knee extensions.

Participated in the Great Aloha Run, Feb 20 , 8.15 miles , Honolulu ; signed up the day following our arrival in Waikiki , without training and was unconcerned how long it would take before I crossed the finish line...over 29,000 participants from Elite runners to babes in buggies ...a fund raiser for non profit organizations in Hawaii

I ran my first half marathon when my brother ran his first full. We were celebrating our both putting prostate cancer behind us! It was a very special and emotional day! Now we will be running together for my first full in Chicago this October. I will be looking through this site for help in controlling my diabetes while doing the extra long distances. Good luck to you and your brother...I hope to hear about your success!

Took a nice face plant 2.5 miles into my 11 miler yesterday while visiting my in-laws in Ft. Myers...scraped up my hands and got a nice strawberry on my chin! The good news is not only did I finish the run but I ran with my glucometer for the first time and had a good blood sugar one hour into my run.
