There are LOTS of diabetics with depression, and yeah, I sort of wish we had a ribbon or something. But even more practical would be a hotline for when you just can't face it anymore. I just don't know how to go about starting one, or getting funding or volunteers.

You know, considering this subject, I wish there were some sort of identifying pin, or symbol, that would identify us to others with similar problems. At least then there's be at least TWO people to support each other! The cross I wore on my uniform only identified me to a lot larger group, and not necessarily diabetics. Chaplain ET.

ugh i know the feelings you guys, the depression, the diabetes & you're supposed to feel that you're like other people? of course i realize there are people that have things much worse than this, but, it's still hard to get through the days most of the time. hoping not to pass out today, you know? i hope everyone does have a good day & if not, maybe tomorrow can be better.

Other than a different picture you're describing me. To a T.
Like you're picture as they are something that doesn't show faults with people.
Been a struggle for me in several areas- depressed for maybe 20 years( many think a lot longer than that) and medical people haven't been able to get the starter to roll the engine over let alone start and begin the journey towards some improvement in life. Unaware when you are getting low blood sugar and problems that causes.
Be nice if one pill could solve the problems but it seems not a lot of people care other than the affected person.
Been a diabetic for slightly more than 53 and one-half years.
Because of things, I've never been one that has felt like you belong in a group larger than about 4 people.

Hello,
i am new to Tudiabetes. i do not have many friends so...i do not know how long i will be able to stay in this group. In the mean time i struggle with depression and i am diabetic with hypoglycemic unawareness. i do not remember fighting being diabetic, but now i do not want it to rule my life. i do not want my diabetes to be the focal point about me. If i were to meet you...and you had false teeth, unless you took them out and put them in a glass, i would not know it. i want my diabetes to be like that. So is this my rebellious phase? UGH! i struggle to get out from under the depression umbrella only to run smack into the even larger diabetic umbrella. It is so hard to find me under all of the crap.

Hi, I might not be in this group for too long. I usually keep this part of my life very quiet.

Oh, ZoZo, I can really relate. I almost killed myself by NOT using insulin. It's a double-edged sword, this one. And I made myself a similar promise, except that it was that I would NOT eat without bolusing. Although I haven't been able to consistently honor that promise, it's still there. I don't do tattoos, but maybe I should get myself a pendant with your words on it, just to remind myself! :-)

I got a tattoo recently, it was partly a diabetes alert tattoo, which was on the inside of my wrist, but I also had a written band around the outside of my wrist. It says "the promise to myself" it's a real in depth meaning which relates to depression. It's on the arm of the hand I use to inject insulin with, and it is a promise that I won't ever use insulin to take my own life. That I'll always fight through those feelings!

Thank you. I have already been taking the Happy Camper for a while and just wanted to know if anyone else saw differences in how their numbers ran? I have huge spikes and generally up and down in an extreme way. When I take the HC my spikes aren't as drastic and my numbers seem to be running better. Wanted to see if anyone has seen similar things with this.

Do you take a MultiVitMin that is not hard as a rock that might be dubiously digested? I avoid hard tablets and totally avoid anything that is said to be enteric coated, as once I found something sticking out of my poop that cost $1 per tablet. It was enteric coated garlic. That is a waste of money, as if one is seen to go right through then likely all of them do, but who wants to check to see?

So, instead, for a really good mood booster try the Genuine Health Multi+Greens+ Which has all the essential MultiVitMins plus a whole lot of greens. See the ingredients on their web site. Genuinehealth.com
I mix the powder with lemon juice in water. Then add more water and lemon juice to get the last of the powder that has settled.

You WILL feel better with the above, but it is expensive given that you will have more than you are told to, but even if you go to three times, by spreading it through the day, it won't be too much of the elements that have to be watched that are fat soluble.
I've just had some as I'm writing this and I am in a really good happy mood. The instructions on it also say to take the greens+ on a empty stomach.
The one downside is that BOTH ARE MIXED TOGETHER...SO TAKE IT HALF AN HOUR BEFORE EATING. you will feel so good that you won't even want to eat a lot.
