If you don't have insurance you might check out InclusiveHealth.org. I heard about it recently and it costs less than half of what Blue Cross wanted to charge me monthly if I didn't have health insurance. Fortunately I have good health insurance now but wanted to share this with the group. Have no idea if it's restricted to NC or not. I had a potentially great job offer where the company didn't have employer sponsored health insurance but fortunately I didn't have to make the choice after all.

I have had T1 for 17 yrs too and I don't have insurance. I live in NJ but here we have a thing called charity care. I receive free insulin, test strips, and syringes but bc it IS a clinic you have 5 mins with the Dr. Please look into this... it is the ONLY thing keeping me alive!

Hi, I'm new here. I've been a type 1 diabetic for about 17 years. I am at this point in my life, w/out a job and insurance. Luckily i get my insulin thru the pharmaceutical companys. The hardest part is the test strips. I go to walmart and get reli on strips cuz they're cheap but sometimes i go w/out and i use needles more than 1 time. my kids are grown and i'm not disabled so in my county and state (clermont county, Ohio) i dont qualify for medicaid. it just doesnt make sense. testing is soooooo important. Does anyone have any info or ideas on what to do about this? This economy isnt getting any better in my opinion. i'm broke.

i had problems getting my insulin due to not having insurance it got to the point to where i was getting sores on my body. then some one tolled me that you could buy it from the county hospitals at a discount price. I take lantus and i was able to buy it for $35, and glucophag for $10. but sad to say i no longer able to qualify for any programs because they say i make to much money and im still having issues getting my lantus. why is all the diabetes medication so expensive...
