I haven't had insurance for over 5 years. And even then I had to pay $100 out of my pocket for Humalog and another $100 for Lantus. Not to mention the test strips. My last A1C was13! Long story short. For the last two months I am on super low carb to control my type 1 I buy NPH from Walmart because it is cheap although it isn't as effective as Lantus was. I am now using test strips and meters from Walmart because they are cheaper but not free. I use 50 test strips a week because I am trying to be in control of my sugars and see how much insulin I am needing. I am fighting low sugars but not that many over 170. The amount of test strips I am using is costing me $20 a week! If any one knows where I can find them cheaper or temporarily for free please let me know.

I am thankful to have found this web site. Everyone on here is so generous with information and support.

I just purchased a new meter I think it was Reli-on and it was $9.99 and then you can purchase strips, 50 for $9.99. That's the cheapest I have found so far from Walmart. I like the meter it does have memory and will go back in time telling your an average, etc.

Good Luck,

Debbie =^.^=

I get mine on Amazon.
