I guess I don't qualify for this anymore.
I dropped to 1000 mg sodium/day in Jan 2012. Now my eGFR is 44. It has been over 30 since April 2012. The doc said that 1000 mg/day was too low, but I wanted to try it, and it worked for me. Just have to be really careful of my blood pressure.

GFR floating between 17 and 28 since Sept 2011. It is very lonely and frustrating. I go to work each day and just want to lay in bed all weekend and every night. I force myself to walk, because that is the one thing that acutally keeps me from having infant feet (you know, the fat feet from swellign so much, they look like an infant). Ugh. I suppose it is keeping me more positive, but the exhaustion is still overwhelming.

Then my family wants me to drive 2 to 2 1/2 hours each way to visit them and I hate to sit that long in a car, and they don't understand how miserable I feel.

Thanks for letting me complain. = ) Nobody around me wants to hear it. I guess I wouldn't either.

Hi Melanie,

I know what you're going through and it's awful. A lot of people don't understand anything about kidney disease and it doesn't help. I'm type 1 diabetic and have been since 1992 and I was diagnosed with chronic kidney failure in 2006. I haven't gone on dialysis, but I've certainly lived with the fear of having to do so. I've also gone through the denial stage and the sickness stage. My GFR is 12.8%. My sister found out she was a match about two to three months ago and has been going through numerous tests since. Her last test was an MRI. Just last week, I found out I'm getting the transplant on July 27th, 2011.

Waiting for a donor to come forward is single-handedly the worst thing I've ever gone through. Since 2006, my sister is the only one who got tested to see if she was a match. I have several relatives and friends, but nobody wanted to do it. As a result of that, I got depressed and alienated myself from everyone. I also questioned all of my relationships and wondered why nobody wanted to get checked. Whatever you do, please don't put yourself through that. There is hope. There are people who love you and will support you. Don't isolate yourself, whatever you do.

So heres my story, i have been diabetic for about 20 years now and have finally come down to stage 4 renal disease. To put it nicely, this disease blows! i am researching hospitals in my area and i think i have decided on Columbia Transplant! If anyone can help with any advice i would appreciate it :)
