I have been a vegetarian since grade 7. Which is nearly 5 years now. I was only diagnosed with type 1 six weeks ago. About a month before my 17th birthday.

Hi Hanna

I had been a diabetic for five years before diagnosis (ten years now). When I was diagnosed I knew that I would have to give up being vegetarian if it put my health at risk, but didn't want to. I've learned how to eat moderate/low carb (under 100 a day) as a vegetarian but it takes a lot of work. (as in cooking!)

i'd been a vegetarian all my life. but when i was diagnosed 7 months ago (3 weeks before my 20th birthday), i thought i wasn't going to be able to continue with vegetarianism. i'll admit it was hard because we generally tend to eat a lot of carbs, so i incorporated eggs in my diet too. i realized the options were still very limited, so i have chicken or fish now about once a month, just to break the monotony. i'm not proud of it, but you gotta do what you gotta do. :)

I was dx'ed with D 13 years ago. I have been a vegetarian or as some people say a semi-veg. for about 30 years. I do eat chicken, turkey and fish. I don't eat anything that ever walked on 4 legs. I eat a lot of veggies and salad, love the veggies grilled. Also, some pasta, but not too much. I also eat a lot of dairy products. I definitely do not miss not eating any meat. Especially since the "pink slime" news. If I ate ground beef before I wouldn't eat it anymore.
