NEED MENTORS!

We are always in need of more mentors so come get involved and inspire other type 1's and type 2's!:)
Check out our website and fill out a request to become a mentor form!

What do we do?

We run a Mentor Program and host Events for teens and young adults with diabetes:
• The DiaBuddies Mentor Program is for both type I and II diabetics of all ages. It matches up clients with a DiaBuddy that can provide personal support to help adjust to a new diagnosis, address ongoing issues with diabetes, and offer understanding and motivation towards a more successful life with diabetes. The DiaBuddy mentors work closely with Clinical Psychologists specializing in diabetes and depression from BDI.
• The DiaBuddies Events provide an opportunity for young diabetics to meet others with a similar lifestyle, get active, make new friends, have fun, and build a support network. Our recent events included Laser Tag, a Beach BBQ, a Padres game, a Holiday Party, and Rock Climbing. Our next teen event for DiaBuddies is Nov. 22 and we are going laser tagging!

Are you a young adult age 20 to mid 30's?
-->Come to our next event on Nov. 14 at the National Comedy Theatre for a night of comedy and a chance to meet other people with diabetes.

Hi Leigh,

Not yet, but would love to get to know more people in the area. My son would work perfectly with a mentor as he LOVES personal attention:)

Steven and I also live in the same community, and out boys are eating lunch together every day at the peanut free table since Day 1 of Kindergarten (mine is not allergic but has been assigned so that no one on that table dares to share the food). Steven's son is a little wise guy, and has the knowledge and the compassion to be with my son by going "You already had the shot, you have to finish your lunch." lol He's gonna be a great non-D mentor:)

Take care,
Michiko

Hi Michiko,
Has your son been matched up with a DiaBuddy? I'm sure he would love meeting someone older, like a role model, who also has diabetes:)

It's definitely a small world! Yes, Steven is our legal chair and a mentor!

HI! We're in Carmel Valley + our little one (will turn 7 in 3 weeks) has T1D and also is on autism spectrum. I have heard about the program somewhere. I "work" closely with the school district here and have heard the increase in Dx'd children. A program like this is do needed! Thanks for starting a group here.
