I've just been accepted into the Islet cell transplant study, Chicago Diabetes Project, at the University of Illinois, Chicago. I was listed, number 5, last Friday, my 65th birthday. I'm very excited! The study injects the portal vein in your liver with donor pancreatic cells which reduces or eliminates the need for insulin. I have questions for those who have experienced this and would love to share with anyone having questions.

I am still involved in a clinical research trial study involving newly diagnosed Type 1 Diabetics....its a double blind case study. Entails two weeks of dosage from either (a daily stick) of an iv line, or a PICC line. Said to help newly diagnosed people retain their pancreas functions or maybe come to lower the dosages of insulin taken.

Although I Am not familiar with any current studies, I welcome any information anyone may have in this area. Especially if it deals with no drugs at all, only diet, exercise, vitamins and/or herbs. Thanks...
