Hi. Just a quick question.I have type 1 running throughyself, my 2 girls, and my mom. We were all D'xed at less than 12 months old. I have my sister in law and her family living with us until they find jobs and get settled I to our area. And I'm afraid that one of her kids will end up with D. I know d is not co taigious, or can be passed on in any type of contact way, you need to be unlucky enough to have the correct genetic makeup with some sort of environmental kicker

But I can't shake this fear. Anyone else experience this? Or am I just overwhelmed by the stress of two families in a one family household and letting my imagination run wild on one of my largest fears?

Hi - My husband was diagnosed at T1 in Sep 2008 at the age of 32, my son was dx in December of 2009 at the age of 5. We are waiting for our youngest daughter's (2 1/2) trialnet results - she's positive for the antibodies, and she just did her OGT test a few weeks ago.

My son was diagnosed in feb 2007 at age 8, i was diagnosed while deployed to Iraq in sep 2009 at age 36. lI am still in the Army just non-deployable now. I was adopted at age 7, so i don't know any of my families medical history.

I was diagnosed 33 years ago at age 8. My younger Brother became a type 1 when he was 12 and my older Brother just became a type 1 last year at age 42. Neither of our parents are type 1 with hardly any family history of diabetes. None of my 3 or my Brothers 4 kids are diabetics.

Type 1 diabetics outnumbered non-diabetics 3/1 in my house growing up. My brother, myself, and my father were all type 1. This is now affecting me and my wife's decision to have children. We don't want the gene to go any further. My fathers uncle was also a type 1. My brother and I are the only two still alive. Both my father and my uncle died in hypoglycemic related incidents.

It's May and we're still waiting for my 2nd son's TrialNet's results .... this will be the 4th year he's testing ... I hate this wait ... hopefully he'll be negative again .... big brother Nicholas ws dX 2006 and mom Shirley was dX 1986. Hoping the Type 1 link ends there and brother Max will never develop T1.

Hi my name is Shelley. I have Type 1 and my 6 year old daughter was diagnosed with Type 1 almost a year ago. I have a 12 month old and hope she never gets this! So glad to have found this group!!

Hi, My name is Amy. I have two type 1 children. Kayla was dx 4/10 at 14 she is using a minimed pump currently and loving it. My 12 year old, Noah, was dx the day before his birthday this year on 1/31/11. His was found through antibody testing and impaired glucose tolerance with one or two numbers a week in the 200's after meals. He is not on insulin yet thankfully and hopefully won't be for awhile. Noah is very active and since the start of spring his numbers are near perfect again :) He plays about 4 to 5 hours a day in sports 3 to 4 times a week. Oddly enough we have even had to treat him for lows in the 50's. My third son has had fasting numbers elevated and pp numbers slightly elevated (170 range) but no antibody testing on him as of yet.. he has other health issues which is how we found the other numbers.

My twin and I dx'ed at the age of six and her two yr old dx'ed 5 months ago! Busy diabetes household here we are all on the mini med revel and cgm.
