So, there has to be a category for lines that aren't flatlines, but aren't exactly Himalayas either. I thought, maybe, Appalachians, but I'm not sure if I'm even spelling the word correctly.

 

How about just, 'Rollecoasters".

 

Here's my attempt to steal the honor back from onesaint. I haven't spent too much time above my high set at 140,and not too much time beloe my low set at 60, but geez I've spent a lot of time bouncing in between the two over these klast 24 hours....

Yup! Colossus alright! What is it, the weather change?? I'm still fighting lows, but my corrections are not holding. =/
I really admire you guys -- I have my high limit set at 200. Sometimes I can stay below 180, but have never succeeded in staying below 140. You must be working very hard at controlling your diabetes! :-)

The one piece of luck I have is that I'm a low glycator, so even with 200 as the high limit, I have always had A1cs in the 6's (except this year when I went out of control and was not able to stop it until I went into a coma -- A1c was 10.7, which, while lower than some people who are walking and talking, was life-threatening to me!).

Well, I'll take you as an example and keep trying!
I dont think there is much more I could say to supplement Danny's comments without sounding repetitive. But, there is a few points to echo.

Welcome Natalie! I think I can speak for us all when I say we really appreciate you jumping in and posting (echo echo echo). I think this group has two wonderful things going for it - a sense of camaraderie (which there really is) and fantastic imput from folks who are all headed for the same goal - with different methods of getting there (wait did he say that too? lol).

Beyond all the funny stuff, Im sorry your luck went south and landed you in a coma, but glad you made it out with hope and perseverance. There are so many little nuances we all have to deal with to make ourselves work right, kudos for keeping up the fight.

I look forward to seeing your good trends and taking roller coaster rides with the group. Careful though, I get sick to my stomach, so you might want to sit next to FHS or Courtney! =^)

Flatline days are rare. Rollercoaster days are plentiful.

I had to insert a new sensor around noon because all my numbers were wacky so all I've got are the last 6 hrs which look pretty good. snack. dinner. snack with a walk/jog to halt that final spike.

Looking good, Courtney. What was your last snack? It looks like you flattened out around 9pm then the snack jumped up a bit.
Some dried kale chips (let me contribute more to your beliefs about my hippy eating habits:) ) and two crackers! I need to do that test to see how many points a gram of carbs raises my blood sugar. What's the best way to do that?

OMG kale! Tisk, I only eat the 30 other forms of Brassica oleracea! Long live cauliflower and sauerkraut! And yes, I did just wikipedia kale. =^) My folks were meditaters and I grew up eating vegetarian Indian food. When I wasnt allowed to hit the local fast food joint of course. =^D

What did you bolus for that snack? Kale chips have about 8g per serving and the crackers Id say another 8 just for fun.

As for a carb to BG test, I dont know the best way as I always over complicate the test with the other variables. But, from what Ive recall (and think its in Diabetic Solution somewhere), you wait till youve got level BG with no IOB, maybe in the AM before breakfast. Eat 1 glucose tab (4 carbs) and test every 15 min for 2 hours or so (maybe less with the Dex). You might also try smarties (7c each) and your juice box (carbs?).
I love kale! Why won't you eat it? Had enough for a lifetime? I went to India a couple years ago and was in vegetarian heaven but certainly not diabeties heaven! Seemed like everything was loaded with carbs except the tea. I wonder why they have such a high incidence of diabetes.

I bolused 1.7 units which is a bit more than I needed with an !:C ration of 1:13 but I thought I could snack on more kale chips if I was going low!

I was just giving you a hard time. =^) Uve actually never had kale on its own, other than for a mixed ingredient into meals. I checked it out and it seems on avg. kale chips are 7g a serving.

I saw some of the pics on your profile and thought that looked like tea farms. Ive never been personally, but would love to. It would be cool to pay homage to Krishna, shiva, and the gang. I think they lead the world in D now. Hmm I think Im going to have to make some saag and tiki masala with cauliflower rice now. Thanks!
