I'm searching for a connection between PN and Diabetes. The "experts" say the cause of PN is unknown. It presents as a "bite" that causes extreme itching. Next, lesions appear and the itching…Continue

Hello, I am new to this group; having just joined. I have had Diabetes for about ten plus years now; but also have a host of other diseases.
I have had a heart attack, have borderline high blood pressure and have had a kidney removed because of a growth in the bad kidney.
The only thing good with my health is that my cholesterol is very low, but then the HDL (good cholestrol) is also very low (less than 25.)
Does anyone on this forum have any advice for me? I am in reasonable good health and do a lot of walking as well as treadmill and elliptical machine exercise.

Comment by Trudy on October 24, 2012 at 4:59am Hi Mohanned. I just looked at urticaria in Wikipedia, which noted that it could be an immune problem. It also said, "The most common food allergies in adults are shellfish and nuts. The most common food allergies in children are shellfish, nuts, peanuts, eggs, wheat, and soy."
I have Celiac Disease, which is not an allergy but a problem with the gluten in wheat, rye and barley; I also have an allergy to shrimp and am intolerent to soy and corn. Celiac and Type 1 commonly occur together; I have both.
It might be worthwhile for you to investigate the possibility that you have Celiac or some food allergy if you haven't already done so. Wishing you luck in getting relief soon, whatever the cause.

Comment by Ila on July 25, 2012 at 5:59am I have been getting Zantac via Walmart's generic Rx plan. Just discovered that I can get the exact same thing over the counter for the exact same price. The only difference is with a Rx I don't have to pay sales tax. Guess what I'm gonna be doing from now on. So much easier than having to call in for an Rx.
