Welcome KrabbyKelly. It is a shame the the U.S. version won't calculate a bolus. I glad you like it anyway.

I agree Emmy but adjustments may be needed after the inital setup and some people live far from there diabetic team, with all the tools out there, we should be intrusted with us doing it ourselves. I to agree the screen is horrible.

Because this meter is recommending insulin dosages (in Canada anyway), it has to be set up by a nurse or doctor. If its not giving you the dose recommendation, then it shouldn't need that, but they are probably all made the same way. Who knows?

I too would like a colour back lit display, its too hard to read it, and that is my main complaint about it.

I find it weird that they even have a password on the meter. The ppl around here had not even seen it and so they would not set it up. Let alone have the password. I know it can be dangerous but if they leave us with administering our own insulin I don't think a little machine will harm us. Just gives us one less step to do. Control issues I guess. Lol

I just received my Insulinx replacement, received 2 actually when I sent back only one unit, so I phoned Abbott about what to do with the 2nd (keep it as a backup) but I really threw her for a loop when I asked if the programming code was the same. She didn't know & asked how I knew, I replied that I got it off the internet, she was totally surprised that it was on there. (I don't know why, isn't just about everything online these days?) She goes on about how the doctor or pharmacist is supposed to programme them, yeah right like they actually would take the time & what do they know about my T1 or anybody else's anyway. Anyway got my chuckle for the day dealing with her, probably all over thei office by now.
