Although the Insulinx meter has been approved for sale in the United States it's features have been limited by the FDA. The current version sold in the US does not have the Bolus Calculator feature. Please consider this if you are planning to purchase

Jims, I'm sorry I wish I knew. The insulin calculator is really no different than the Bolus Wizard in an insulin pump. They approved it in a pump why not in a meter.

Is it my imagination but it seems the FDA seems to have a consistent record blocking Abbot Freestyle stuff along with the Navigator CGMS. Is that overstating the issues. Why is the FDA against providing a more open view on their equipement.

You're welcome Jims. You need to know that the Insulinx meter sold in the US does not have the insulin dosing calculator because the FDA would not approve it.

Special thanks for letting me join your group and opportunity to learn about this meter. I already use freestyle lite so was intrigued what they did here on this one and its neat features and insulin dosing calculations!
