TuDiabetes - A Community for People Touched by Diabetes

I've always wanted a tat but was always turned off by DR's telling me that it isn't healthy for diabetics but after seeing this group and I'm ready to go out and get one now!

I love the Diabetic ones and want one too. But I always want to get one with the names of my 3 kids. So many choices and I am not the creative kind to think of something original.

UGH!

Do your research and find a really good shop. Make sure you tell them you are diabetic. And when it comes to ideas and designs, most of the time, you can in and tell an artist what you are wanting and they will draw up a few different ideas for you to go over, so you can brainstorm some more on your own. After the tat, I always use vasoline and plastic wrap until it heals. Neosporine and bandages cause the color to bleed and fade.

Amber, thanks a lot. There is a place nearby that my wife and several others we know have used. I think I may just pop in there tomorrow. :). I'm feeling a tad impulsive but only after I decide on the design. Thanks for the reply!!

Wow You have got to do some research on Tattoo Aftercare!!!! You should never recover it with Vasoline or plastic wrap all tho i do re-cover with plastic wrap and Savlon. Only for the first night though. Then you should air it out and apply oinment (like Savlon) every 3 - 4 hours daily for 3 -5 days. Covering your Tattoo with plastic wrap only produces a place for bacteria to grow and provides the heat!!!

IF you can find a good shop and artist, give him your ideas and they can get creative with it and see if you like it.
