I've had type one for forty-one years. I thank God that the only diabetic side-affect I have had are three retinopathy surgeries 1999-2000. Eyes are fine for now. I have great circulation and exercised a lot more when I was younger - I need to get back to that habit. I have had a couple of torn meniscus on my left knee - that comes from wear and tear (pardon the pun). My Orthopedic surgeon says I have the knees of an eighteen year old - even if I had diabetes when I was born (I had just turned nineteen), that's great news!

I've had diabetes since 10/30/89. I was 10 months old and ever since im a healthy 20 year old girl. =) I've had my highs and lows too but my system is working the way it should =). Wow i guess really soon i'll have 20 years with my diabetes. We all should get some kinda gift every year we have with diabetes. Because we are strong people! =) and we take good care of ourselves or/and others.

I am in my 57th year and feel great. Just got a CGM. Ilove it. Last A1c was 5.7.
If I did not know my age and could only make a guess, I'd go with 35 years. I will be 67 in Sept. Considering the longevity in my family, this is middle aged.
Do ya think I'm jinxing myself??
