My heart goes out to you Gingercat! I know that things are tough all over. I have been a T2 for over 13 years now and even for me... I struggle. I think that all Diabetics struggle with the regime. What works for me is exercise (no one wants to hear that I know) almost every day. I also take oral meds but I am working towards getting off of them. Do you have a group of caregivers that help you? Does that also include your mental health care provider? Maybe you can ask him/her for tips on how not to feel so overwhelmed? You need to try to take things one step at a time, get the facts (watch DLife on YouTube) be proactive on trying to stay positive talk to your doctors. I am so glad to have this group. I am newly diagnosed with T2 and completely overwhelmed by it. I suffer with asthma, migraines and I do have a mental illness. I am having difficulty accepting this new life and the changes it entails. Due to my mental illness I am having difficulty following the treatment regime and so far my Hab is 13, my kidneys are already working too hard and I have been told my potassium and sodium and my BG is always in the 20s and more often than not it doesn't reach register because it is too high a reading. I just feel completely overwhelmed but just struggling with each day! I do feel completely weakened and with 4 children this is not good!!

I'm sorry to say but this is so true. I found out the other day my endocrinologist is listed in the top100 in my state. I was in shock. I feel like I'm back to square one everytime I leave her office...no support, no suggestions (except to lose weight, which seems to be her answer for everything)....nothing. Sorry for the rant but I'm at a point of total frustration.
I'm back to this site looking for the information and support I can't seem to find locally.

How often are you testing your bloodsugar? Were you taught about carb counting?

I did get a crash course at the diabetics clinic. I am using the novo pen. seems straight forward enough. i only inject in the evening before bed.

I am glad your MD suggested insulin and referred you to an endo. I hate to say it, but lots of times Type 2 diabetics are not treated aggresively enough. Keep calling the endo to see if there are any cancellations. You were given insulin with no training?

Hello I am new to this group. I am struggling to get some answers and help for my health. I was diagnosed with type 2 and did well on oral meds for about a year and a half, with other unanswered health issues and a great deal of emotional stress my numbers have gone thru the roof. I have had readings that were to high for my meter to read but mostly been ranging in the mid 20's to low 30's. the Dr has increase my oral meds as much as she can and a week ago has added insulin. I have seen a few mid teen numbers since .... hoping to go lower. She has refered me to an Endo, they set my appt. for June 22.... so long to wait. So I guess I am looking here for some support and understanding of my struggles and frustrations. Thanks Robyn
