good on ya janet for taking control. the daily grind of this is a pain but taken one day at a time it's sorta bearable. one thing i've heard that helps w/ dawn phenomenom is eating just before bed so you're body doesn't think you're starving and dump glucose into your bloodstream as you sleep. I go w/ a glass of red wine but that's just me. take care

Hello all...I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself to this group. I was diagnosed w/type 2 over 10 years ago but have been dealing with neuropathy and many foot complications (charcot's foot and many surgeries) for the past few years. Those, knock on wood, are past but now I'm starting all over again in trying to get a handle on my diet and which medications will work best for me. My last A1c was 6.9 and I'm having trouble in the mornings with high (170-220) BG readings. So frustrating and I'm hoping to find some supprot and ideas here (this site in general). I am feeling overwhelmed and and in need of support/encouragement. Thanks and good luck to everyone.

Hi!!!
I never thought that i could have this kind of disease. I suffered a lot from skin boils to think that all of my ambitions was gone because of Diabetes. As i read your comments, i found out that your luckier than me cause you can monitor your blood sugar and have a monthly check up with your physician.
I wished i could do that also...

Hi everyone... I know this is a time of great turmoil for so many people and my heart goes out to each and everyone going thru their own personal distress over and above our special disease. But I was wondering to all of you that has a minute if you could say a prayer for me. I am going thru some tremendous up heaval right now in my life and am having so much stress about these things that I can't even get my BG below 300 right now. I believe so much in prayer that if there were a few more people praying for God to guide me and speak to me so I know what to do I would be most greatful. I too will that all my friends here have continued control over their disease and that someday there will be a cure.
God Bless you all.

I wanted to share great news with everyone because I am super proud of myself! Since my last post I have been working like crazy to lower my kidney meds because I just don't like how they make me feel when I take them. So what I did was take it out on my exercise equipment, I worked out like crazy on my ab lounge machine and it felt so wonderful to get the reps in! You know what happened when I took my last A1c test at the beginning of this month? I started out at a 6.3 last month and I was so disappointed in myself that I exercised and got it down to a 5.8! It is such an amazing thing that I ask the doctor are you sure that it is right? She told me yes and then she told me that she is going to lower my kidney meds... AMEN for that! Now since the results, I am working out a lot more (50 sit ups and 30 minutes on my treadmill each day!) every day and I love it! It is always tough to do but I love how I feel when I exercise and plus the sugars stay at a normal with no highs or lows. It is fantastic! I just hope that other people can try exercise a try too? Please if you have the time check out this article: http://www.ehow.com/how_5223308_do-ups-obese-type-diabetes.html
It talks about my journey with doing sit ups!

Hi Carol! I know what you mean about the insulin, I just had a 6.6 A1C and was happy with that, although I would like it below 6.5. I gained 3 pounds, but my Cholesterol dropped dramatically. You know, I used to know a woman named Carol Coombes, and all I can remember about her is that she had terrible migraine headaches and I believe one of her sons had some kind of blood disorder. You've never lived in Washington State have you?

Hi everyone! I am so glad that I am finding this group! Right now I am sorta in a low place right now because of my A1c test results that I got back two days ago. It is just hitting me hard and I am honestly feeling so many mixed emotions. I feel like shutting down emotionally about my Diabetes, but i am trying to fight it. Does anyone else feel overwhelmed and disappointed about numbers some times? Then to top everything off, when I cry (like I am now) I feel light headed? BTW, I have had type 2 Diabetes for 8 years now working on 9 and I have before controlled everything by diet and exercise before but the last 3 months I have been taking Actos 5mgs. (I am allergic to medforman.) now this last month it has been bumped up to 10mgs. and I am scared.... I wanted to be off of meds by this month. I feel so disappointed in myself. Help?

Hi vikki,

I just hapened by and saw your plea for support. I wasn't near as young as you when I was diagnosed at 16, but that was 53 years ago, and all I can say is take it one day at a time and be thankful for all thelittle things.

Jackie...I'm so sorry to see anyone go through this. I can speak from experience in this regard...having gone through a very public divorce. Sounds as if you need to find another gathering of believers. Sounds like there are a bunch of self-righteous people. A comedian once said, "watch your purse; 'cause everyone in church aint saved." Surely God has no special regard about where you're sitting in His house. I'm appalled that this situation was set up in the first place. How is this drawing anyone closer to God??
