Hi "Married with Diabetes" Group--I am an Omnipod and dexcom user which is an amazing help---however it doesn't take diabetes away...LOL---My husband and I have been married for 3 years....diabetes is extreemly hard on both of us...because of my moods swings, he says it is hard to know what person he is going to get....at times. :) :( Any words of wisdom...?

Anyone have any comforting words on dealing with the depression associated with Diabetes. My husband was recently diagnosed and I never know what to say to him when he's having a bad day. I want to just listen to him, but he gets really scared and depressed and closes up. Does anyone know my situation who can offer advice?

That's great to hear, Sunrise! We're also looking into pumps right now for my son, we'll wither be going with the Ping or MM522. Either is fine with me, it's now just up to what the 5yr old feels most comfortable carrying, and that can change on the daily! Good luck and let me know how it works out!

JDavid, LizY, Colorado, and Sarah,

I just wanted to thank you all once again for all your helpful advice that you gave me and to give you an update:

After visiting with a diabetic educator (today), my husband thinks he is going to try the ping. He chose this one since it's waterproof. He coaches baseball (outside) and some times there is no shelter but the bus. Not all schools have enclosed dugouts at their diamonds. Plus we like to take our kids to a water park at least once a year. This way he can pump and still have fun at the water parks. He was told that it is water proof but they recommend he doesn't submerge his pump in the water. The reason for this is if some thing would go wrong with the pump after it being submerged it will take some time to get a replacement.

Now that he has picked the Ping; we have to contact our insurance company to find out how much it will cost us. Only time will tell if he will be able to begin pumping.

Please let me know how you all are doing!!

I like your idea Sunrise....</</i>b>

GREAT but, would not work too well in my house. My wIFe bitches about my medical costs, raised a stink last week when I (slipped) and said I was going o pick up my insulin refill. She refuses to even visit me in the hospital, diabetes in 80, cancer 82 and suspected C again in 91.

Like I said a great idea, but maybe either you might want to try it or we could have a contest maybe?

JDavid,

You need to design a tshirt with your little saying, "Syringe 25 cents, Vial of insulin $75, a healthy happy life together, PRICELESS!". You should have a picture of a syringe with 25 cents under it, a plus sign, a picture a vial of insulin with $75 under it, an equal sign, and the words "My Dad is PRICELESS or "I am PRICELESS" or "My Husband is PRICELESS" or "My Son is PRICELESS" or "My Son-In-Law is PRICELESS" or "My Coach is PRICELESS" or "My Teacher is PRICELESS" or you get the idea. You could get them made for about $7 and sell them for $14 with the profits going to Juvinel Diabetes or something to do with diabetes research.

Just a thought...I would buy them.
