Hi all!

I finished a CNA course in January and I have my certification test on the 23rd of this month. I am hoping to pass the test and score some interviews. I had interviews prior to the pump and CGM but now I am lost as what to do. I can put the CGM receiver (dexcom) in my bag but not sure what to do with the pump. I really need to get a job in this field and will disclose the diabetes after I am hired so I can take care of myself and my charge nurse knows where I am if I need to take care of a hypo or a correction, etc. But not sure how to deal with it in an interview.

Any suggestions from those in the medical field that had to deal with this when interviewing for your current job, etc?

Thanks!

Measure BG, correct and set reminder to 0 (zero) before you go in. Make sure CGM is level so it does not make noise. Read the person and then decide whether to disclose in interview.

Be certain the application does not have any questions on it also. You do not want to give misleading info on the application.
I would not disclose any information in the interview as you could be judged as a possible problem. get the job then disclose to people. ignorance is every where even in the medical fields. i try to turn off any beeps or buzzes and lower my basel insulin to 75% just to reassure myself that i will not go low. good luck!

an update...i worked in a nursing home and I had a blood sugar low and the nurse advisor gave me way too much sugar and then sent me home. Two months after that, I switched jobs. I miss my job. They treated me a heck of a lot better than the nursing home!
