My husband called me at work today to tell me some really disturbing news.

I was anticipating my first delivery of my medtronic supplies 'refill'. I had ordered them some time ago. Anyway, it's been really raining here for a couple of days now, so when the delivery truck showed up my husband didn't run outside to pick it up. I think it was UPS, but I'm not sure who Medtronic uses to do their deliveries. No one rang the bell (hubby heard the truck), the package was just left on the covered porch. My husband said maybe 3 minutes passed before he went to the door to get it. When he opened the door some guy was running away with my box! Someone apparently was following the delivery truck and stealing boxes left out on the porches!!!

We called the cops and filled out a report. It was after Medtronics normal business hours, so if I don't want to wait 10-15 minutes on the phone I will have to call tomorrow.

Question: Does anyone know if medtronics will do a rush to refill the order? I have about 3 sets left before I'm out. Any advice?

Thanks! Patra

This is horrible! I'm so sorry to hear about this experience.

I think that you should be able to get a rush order!

Oh my gosh. I'm so sorry! That's really disturbing. I know Medtronic is capable of doing rush orders. There might be a shipping charge or something (as opposed to their normal free shipping), but it's definitely possible. I would be worried about how your insurance company will deal with covering the cost of the extra supplies. :-/ Best of luck to you and I'm so sorry.

Crazy story! That guy will surely be surprised when he opens that delivery. I usually get my delivery within 3 days, but they do have overnight delivery if you need it. However, I live in SoCal, so not sure if it makes a difference where you live. I just received my sensors and looks like UPS -Next Day Delivery.

Good luck!

An update to the story.

I could not get anyone on the phone at Medtronics. I had to wait the 10 minute waiting time and then the girl on the line told me I needed a different department - Returns. She said she'd transfer me, but hung up on me instead. I did NOT want to call back and wait another 10 minutes on hold!

I found an email from someone at medtronics in the sales department and emailed her. I got a phone call within an hour. They are going to rush me a curtesy replacement order at no charge. I was surprised, but really happy!

I've changed the delivery address to my work - I don't want a repeat performance of the UPS stalker!

I had my meter stolen out of my room at The 4 Queens Hotel in Las Vegas, along with a bunch of other stuff.

I believe it was an inside job based on several things that happened before and afterward, and the meter was really cheap compared to the other items stolen, so perhaps one of the maids or co-conspirators is a diabetic! :-) In any event, avoid this hotel if you want to hold on to your supplies (or your computer, blackberry, or anything else...).

Yeah - I left my meter at work one night and when I got to work the next day it was gone. I've never had anything else stolen before, but I don't have anything worth squat at work so I figured the cleaning crew must have really needed it. ;-) And I don't know for SURE that the cleaning crew took it, but I don't know who else would have been in my office after hours...
