I was at the doc today and saw a report that CarelinkPro does that is a Sensor and Meter Overview. It was way better than any of the personal logs for me. Does anyone know if there is a way to get carelink pro or has anyone seen these reports? I will describe them in case you haven't seen them...
The report includes graphs of CGM, blood sugars that I entered in the pump (whether or not I calibrated or bolused) then there was also a mark for when I ate and how much as well as how much insulin. One sheet had about a week of graphs on it but they were not overlayed so you could look at the patterns individually.
This was way more helpful than the weekly overlay because I could look at patterns relative to food rather than just time of day (because my schedule is so busy). It was also soooo much easier to see patterns relative to lows and exercise because those don't happen every day at the same time either.
Id love to hear your thoughts.
Haven't seen that-- but that sounds awesome!
Yes Carelink Pro is a much better tool than the consumer version. I've never quite understood Medtronic's reluctance to making it available to educated consumers. The short answer to your question is, yes you can get it but you need to talk to a Medtronic rep and they may or may not decide to give it to you. Officially they are not supposed to give the installation CD to anyone who isn't a diabetes professional. Personally, I have had varying degrees of luck with a few Medtronic reps.
Very helpful information Mike! Would you recommend being blunt with the rep or beating around the bush a little?
I've seen those reports from my doctor, and they are awesome! I suspect the reason they don't sell it to the general public is because they don't want to assign customer service reps to help "dumb, uneducated" people trying to figure it out. (Both how to use it and how to interpret it).
I've seen those reports and yes the Pro version is much better than the consumer version. Best I've gotten with my doctor's office Diabetic Educator is, "I'll email you the reports you want to keep as PDF files." I'd also like to get the software so I could print those reports myself!
i am a medtronic rep. find out who the Territory Manager is in your area by calling medtronic. then call the them and be blunt. i wouldnt have a problem with it. there has been all sorts of discussion back and forth at medtronic how to make the personal cersion have the same reports as the professional. it will happen someday. when the FDA lets us...
Thanks for the feedback! I guess I can understand not giving everyone reports with management suggestions (like "go over how to treat lows"), but that report seems like it is just a more convenient way to see all the data that is in the other reports...Anyway, I will get in touch with my rep.
I have appreciated the discussion...I have just assumed ther pro-version was the basis for medtronic charging some software maintenance charges to our doctors??
I've been hoping they would come out with better charts and software as well. That is my only gripe with the system and probably why I don't upload as often.
I spoke with the rep in my area and she is going to meet me to upload CarelinkPro onto my laptop! I very excited about it. Thank you very much Mike for the suggestion and Gator for the encouragement.
