Don't know if it's from the sinus infection or the Z Pack I started 2 days ago (or neither!); however, blood sugars are running extra high. Every time I decide to use a temp increase, they seem to stabilize. Anyone else ever have this experience?
I always run high when I am on antibiotics. I too do not know if it is being sick or the antibiotics or both. Whatever it is, I run high. I always up my basals the minute I start taking antibiotics. I also down water by the gallon. It helps with flushing the funk from the illness out and water helps insulin work better.
Feel better and good luck.
Before I started on my plastic pancreas, I used to get infections on my feet and had to take antibiotics. I could always tell when I was getting an infection because my sugar would sky-rocket! Talking going from 200-250 up to 450-500 in a matter of hours.
It has always been my thinking that the infection, wherever it may be, causes the sugars to go up as it did the same when I have a sinus infection or an upper respiratory infection.
Good luck and hope you get well soon! Keep an eye on the sugars and maintain as much control as you can. Just be careful of the lows....
I believe when the body is out of sorts the blood sugars are always affected. Everything being so intrically connected. Great idea from othes about water....keep drinking! lemon is good to add. I also take tons of probiotics with the antibiotic to keep the stomach bacteria from going mad. Dropping pills right in yogurt with each one.
