Gearing up for holiday party one of five, I sure hope I can keep the "sugars" in check. Starting my day with a run, and then hoping I can manage my basals, keep away from the casseroles, and still allow for some fun.

I have been on a bit of a roller coaster ride for a week now with no holiday temptations. I was doing pretty well with this pump until then. I have been running high after dinner, waking up out of my targets, and experiencing my usual morning high. Wish me luck in my pancreatic management as I go through my first holiday with my pump.

Happy Holidays All,

Kristin

Hello Kristin

Been diabetic 26 yrs on the pump for 4. I recently started using the "my Fitness Pal" app on my computer and phone. I found that my biggest issue was accurately counting my carbs. I was eating salads and casseroles and not really taking enough insulin because of the combinations. The app lets me put in my serving and find my food and really take better control of my blood sugars. I do not use it to lose weight but to carb check.

Have a happy healthy holiday !

Pascale

Hi Kristen, I love the holidays but they do test my carb counting abilities. I do pretty good at it but sometime I do fail the test and when I do I don't beat myself up over it. Like PMichel I also use a phone app for counting carbs.

I'm like you I have just started with my pump, 2 days now, I have been reading your post to gain insight on starting. Thanks for posting your experiences.
