Well folks, I'm a pump owner now, my Revel pump arrived today. Now if I can just endure this week of torture and agongy waiting to see the pump trainer. I go to see him a week from tomorrow.

Welcome to the club.
Don't worry, your trainer will walk you through
every step, they don't expect you to know it all.
In the meantime, watch any training videos.
The more you watch, the more you will remember,
so there will be less anxiety later on; and it will seem
like second nature.

Only proviso is to be ultra-cautious and already have an idea of what your basals should be, and what your carb ratios are and what your insulin sensitivity is. I already had those in my head, and I intentionally underestimated them when I set up the pump. That's what the doc is going to do, anyway. The other thing is that I'm not all THAT insulin sensitive, but some people are, and if you're one of those, then you really SHOULD wait. OK, bad girl moment over -- cautious girl says wait.

Permalink Reply by Stemwinder on December 14, 2012 at 6:19pm Oh Natalie I'm not nearly as brave as you. The thought has crossed my mind. I have studied the post of you folks that pump and I think I could pull it off. I know my basal(at least as it is on MDI), my carb to insulin ratio and my insulin sensitivity is. The mechanics of the infusion sets and stuff like that are a little worrysome but I think I could figure it out.
I just don't want to piss off the pumping gods (pump trainer, endo, etc..)and besides practical advice is worth it's weight.
Permalink Reply by Kate's Mom on December 14, 2012 at 6:53pm Are you also on Lantus? 'Cause you have to be off that to start the pump...and then they set a humalog/novolog basal.

Permalink Reply by Stemwinder on December 14, 2012 at 7:20pm Not on Lantus but I am on Levemir for basal. I have already called the endo's office about when to stop it. Thanks
Permalink Reply by Kate's Mom on December 14, 2012 at 9:08pm Good luck!
It will be well worth the wait once you get setup life will change as you know it (for the good)
Permalink Reply by Kate's Mom on December 14, 2012 at 7:04am Read the manual, watch the videos and expect to make mistakes. The first time, without supervision, inserting it in my daughter I was so scared.....but almost 2 years later we've got it down!

Permalink Reply by Stemwinder on December 14, 2012 at 6:21pm I'm sure it will be nerve racking for that first solo set. Sort of like the first injection but worse.
