Hi All,

I’ve been a diabetic since 82, and just found out about this group for Minimed’s Paradigm pump, so looking forward to some great conversations and education.

Is anyone else so completely frustrated with the way they’ve programmed much of this RTGM pump, that they want to make a significant investment in trying to figure out how to jail break it so we can program it to do what it should? Especially the way it maps ISIG values to glucose values with calibration. It just makes me want to screeeeem!! Can anyone even understand whatever terrible thing it is doing? (i.e. even after multiple calibration, it still has way wrong numbers and backwards trending!!)

P.S. Does anyone have any idea when any pump manufacturers are going to stop being selfish, and start making pumps / RTGM systems that are controlled by and display data via smart phones? At least with such, they could implement some kind of security!

When you use your thigh, do you inset the same way / same angle?

Since there is a known lag between ISIGs and BGs, and a 0-5 minute gap between a BG reading and a sensor reading in which to sync it, (not to mention a 20% tolerance on BG readings itself), I believe that the algorithm attempts to account for this based on the next sensor/ISIG reading and perhaps even the one following that, to extrapolate backwards to meet the calibration seed.

I don't know exactly how it works, but I know that if you calibrate with a 146, your sensor reading doesn't immediately jump to a 146 - nor should it (it took me a long time to grasp that fact).

I will say that when I switched to the Contour NextLink meter, my sensor readings have been much closer to my actual fingerstick readings. I can only attribute that to an improved meter accuracy. I wrote about it a little bit here: http://wp.me/p2aBl3-vO

As an engineering/mathematics-minded person, I really would love to know the actual algorithm, though.
