I will start in a few days and curious to know when does basal delivery start? I've read through the manual and I can't tell if basal starts up automatically after the manual prime or maybe after fixed prime? Conversely, I'm guessing that rewinding automatically stops delivery?
Welcome to pumping. It's a life changing event .... for the better. The basal delivery starts automatically and yes rewinding stops the delivery. So does suspending the pump.
Your Pump Trainer should have programmed a Basal Rate set by your physician. The Pump Basal Rate is set when your pump is changed from Training Mode to "Live". If not, call your Pump Trainer or your Physician.
To answer your question, as soon as your pump is in functioning "Live" mode and you fill your reservoir, infusion set tubing, insert the infusion set cannula, and prime the cannula with 0.70 units of insulin, the previously programmed Basal Rate starts immediately.
Hope this helps.
It makes sense, thanks. It was driving me crazy reading the manual which does not explicitly explain.
