My latest box of Silhouettes don't seem to want to stick to my skin. I've been using IV tape all over them to make sure I don't rip it out, but it leaves so much sticky stuff on my skin I hate it. I'm not sure if its this box of sets or the sudden weather change from normal to Artic. Anyone ever get an unsticky box or anyone else in the Northeast having the same issues because of the weather?

Hmmmm, that's a tough one. I've had a set or two seem less sticky, and same for CGMS sensors, but certainly not a whole box. (Then again, I think I'm only on my 5th box to date!)

Maybe the solution in the interim is to use a barrier coat like the Bard wipes Minimed sells (and I know other people use others) so that the tape doesn't leave so much gunk on your skin afterward (or it comes off easier)?

Have you tried wiping the IV prep over the top of the silhousettes after insertion? This really helps me. I really saturate it and then when it dries I don't have a problem.
Hope this helps.

I would contact the company and ask if they know of this problem. they should send out a new box to replace what you have left. I would also look into using I.V. Prep Antiseptic Wipes before applying your set...they look like alcohol pads you wipe the area of the new site. Wait a min. for it to get sticky then apply your infusion set. Most pharmacies will carry the I.V. Prep pads you can also ask your doctor for a perscription if needed for your insurance to cover them. Good Luck!!

I use the IV prep wipes already. I'm unsure if the problem is my skin or the infusion set right now. I normally have some dry skin issues in the winter, but this past week has been winter like- snow yesterday- so I actually think that my skin might be the issue. The heat is on and it was a sudden cold snap, so my skin might be reacting weird.
I haven't tried using the IV prep after putting on the set. I'll try that with my next one.
