hole, not whole.
It is a belt with a little stretchy pocket and in this case, a whole to accommodate the pump tubing. I usually wear my pump in my bra. It always falls off with the little belt clip. So, this belt allows me to wear the pump around my waist or adjust it to wear under my bra strap around my body. When riding my bike, I can put it behind me in the belt with no danger of it falling out.
You can find them online, just google SPIBELT. They don't cost very much, under $25 and they have wonderful customer service. They also make them in specific belt sizes just for you. Just call to place your order and give them your measurement. The lady who started the company did it to fit her wallet and phone for running and other exercises. I am going to wear my pump in the belt under dresses when the pump-in-the-bra would be more visible.
Comment by Dani on June 15, 2012 at 6:43am I have the SPIbelt too, and I have found that I rarely use the little cut out for the tubing. I just usually run it out at the end of the zipper :P
Shoshana: It's a "small personal item belt". I guess they are made specifically for athletes to carry keys, gu, etc, but they also happen to make one specifically for insulin pumps that has a button hold to thread the pump tubing. It basically looks like a tiny fanny pack.
Comment by shoshana27 on June 15, 2012 at 6:35am what's a SPIBELT?
Comment by sprmom on June 15, 2012 at 6:34am I just finished my first 2 weeks on my pump, and I talked everyday to my medtronic nurse, she was so helpful and talked me through getting my pump set just right. I am thrilled with the pump & the company.
Comment by Joan on June 15, 2012 at 4:55am I don't know if the 554 is only available in Canada but I have had it for over one year and I believe it is the latest model. It has the automatic suspend.
Comment by Kyla on June 14, 2012 at 3:17pm Thank you for all of your answers this is helpful. One more question, I am interesting in learning more about Medtronic and Minimed. Is there any way that they could improve in communicating with you and helping you with your insulin pump?
I received my SpiBelt today. I had to exchange the first one. It was not the one with the cutout for the pump tubing. Now, I can wear my dresses and not put my pump in my bra while doing so.
I use the Medtronic Revel (my 1st pump) and I got this one because of my doctor's recommendation. Medtronic has been wonderful to work with overall thus far.
I did meet with the Omnipod rep and she herself wears one. I also researched it before I met her. She never mentioned the failure rate. How can that be skipped???? I wear this device to help with my health and well-being and help keep me alive. Acceptable failure rate??? Really???
I find that the Quick Set infusion set lasts the full three days. Mios only last two days for me.
