Geoffrey,
Yea, that was certainly an option but MM initially promised to get me a repl pump the next day - a Saturday. But UPS screwed up and failed to make the delivery. We left our vacation spot mid-day Monday, so we just rerouted the repl pump to be sent home by Tuesday. It was not worth it in my mind to go buy some Lente for 2 days.

@Ken: when my cozmo failed back in december, i had my endo call in a script for Lantus, helped a ton.

I had my pump fail this past weekend while on vacation, and had to wait 4 days before getting my hands on a replacement pump (this is not a rant on MM or UPS, who did screw up a bit in getting the repl to me but stuff happens). My days back on injection therapy using only Humalog just re-enforced my appreciation for my pump. Life is so much easier, freer, and BGs in the right range with a pump. I'm happy to be bionic again.

Sarah, I have been on a pump for 7 years and I live in Phoenix, where it is nice and dry as well as hot most of the year. I have never had a pump dry out like that. weird.

But, I have huge problems with MiniMed and them blaming me for issues that are 100% their fault. It is EXTREMELY frustrating, and I can't count the number of times I have lost my cool with the person on the other end of the phone and had to speak to their supervisior. Right now, my current issue with them is them billing my old insurance (3 times now) them getting a reply back from them saying I don't have coverage so if I want my supplies I have to pay $600 out of pocket. I also have a problem with them billing me correctly. Just to name a few.....they arn't currently on my good list.

Hi Geoffrey,

You may be interested in reading an infusion set comparison I'm currently doing in my blog.

I had similar questions when I started with my Paradigm 522, and decided to go and try different sets for myself.

Hope it helps,

Henry

Thank you for the info Geoffrey. I will ask my diabetic care coordinator about this option. I have been thinking about switching to Animas because their pumps are a little lighter. Minimed made their pumps heavier unlike most technology when they switched from the LCD battery to a triple A (for our convenience according to them). I wish they would have given us the option of LCD when they redeveloped their pump. Weight of the pump has always been one of the most important issues for me and my sals rep 8 years ago, Patrick, told me they were going to get lighter. He basically lied to me,

Sarah, that is one of my major frustrations with minimed, that their infusion set offerings have not changed in 5 yers, and that they are still shipping sets that are even older than that. Animas is now shipping a reservoir that is compatible with the paradigm pumps, but has a luer-lock connection, so you can use one of the Insets (i guess you could also use a Cleo, but i hated those for the 2 weeks i used them)

I am a little upset with Minimed today. Eight years ago their plungers used to dry out and the pump would stop delivering insulin in less than three days if you were in a dry climate like Los Angeles. I met others experiencing the same problem; eventhough, Minimed acted like we had a defective site or we did something wrong everytime we called about it. I also do not have much area to put the infusion set. They always say that it's me. They try telling me I am "thin" first. I let them know that I am proud not to be technically thin but within a healthy BMI range. Today they next assumed that I was extra muscley. I explained that no I am not a female Arnold Schwartzi. I pretty much only take a half hour walk once a day. Why can't that make an infusion set that works easily with people who are within a healhty BMI like myself and stop acting like I am the problem their supplies are not working that well with me? Take some responsiblilty when you charge us thousands of bucks! Is anyone else aggravated with the way Minimed addresses problems with us that are related to their technology? How the reps seem to try to act like we must be abnormal instead in one way or another?

Mine started randomly a few weeks ago, maybe it's the battery...weird. Thanks so much! You spared me a long annoying phone call!
