Hi Katsz!, Just noticed your group and WOW our sons were diagnosed two weeks apart! He has been on the Omnipod for 11 months, we love it. Now, are they the around the same age too??? Noticed on your page that he might be a teen. Our son's 15. I haven't noticed you on any of the discussions (I browse or reply to) before, but I guess you've been around. Thanks for forming the group, there is a lot to talk about especially now that the 30% smaller pods and new PDM are on the horizon. I try to keep up if there's any new news. It is one of the reasons that we went with the Dexcom CGM, the integration will be wonderful. This is the only DOC I use, I absolutely can't say enough about it, there are amazing people here and I've learned so much from finding what works for them and sharing what work for us, and supporting each other. Even chatted 3 hours with a fellow FLATLINER at the LA Diabetes Expo. Am curious about the other resources you mentioned. I now have a large T1 library but its been TuD that has been so instrumental in our level of diabetes management. Friend me if you like, I'm sure we'll have lots to share! :) Emily

My computer is in the fritz so I am trying to answer via phone...and might go cross-eyed! My son was 15 at diagnosis and is now 17 and will be a senior next year. Will friend you if I can by phone...if not will once computer works or I get a new one.

9. Future integration w/Dexcom
10. Tubeless, Tubeless, Tubeless :)

My dtr was dx Sept 2010 at 4.5yrs old. By Christmas 2010 she started the omnipod. Reasons we chose it....tubeless, can do anything (swimming) while wearing it, remote PDM and glucometer in one, and again tubeless. Our screen is not a color screen. I would think getting it so recently we would have the most updated version. Just got a replacement PDM today because the other went on the "fritz" and it doesn't have a color screen either. Wonder why? Oh well, doesn't really matter. Just glad we have it :)

Are you saying your PDM shows just black and white? It should have Insulet's signature colors; blue and green for the background of headings and to highlight your selection while scrolling. We're not talking colored photos here. Your PDMs (2) should be the 2nd generation, its been out for a while, we got ours July of 2010. Can't wait for the 3rd gen. that will come out with the smaller pods (pending FDA approval). It will communicate with our Dexcom CGM.

HA! No, it is a light green color at the top and bottom strip and the bar that scrolls down the screen is light blue. Don't know what I was thinking. I guess I thought you meant the whole thing was in color :) And yes, that is another reason we chose Omnipod. Integration with the Dexcom CGM although we are not using one now. Our endo/nurses don't feel like Sophia has enough area for both right now but hopefully soon!

We chose the Omnipod for the following reasons:
- tubeless
- discret
- didn't have to attach to clothes
- didn't have to mess with it when going to bathroom or changing clothes
- waterproff
-virtually painless, easy, self auto insertion where there is no needle seen!
- remote PDM (I could actually take away some of the burden on her and bolus or correct a high BG without her even knowing!)
-build in glucometer
- invented by a Doctor whose young son is type 1; not some big Pharmacutical Company looking to "make big" from diabetics
-good customer service

Yea! So excited to see this new group, we are 6 weeks into pumping and still adjusting our basals... Getting into a bit of a groove, Kennedy has been able to keep up with her competitive dance schedule and often goes in at 120 and comes our 120 thanks to basal reduction, We have had some crazy highs here and there, and we still have too much bolts and not enough basal, looking forward to learning with everyone

My son was diagnosed in February 2011 at 2 1/2 years and began the omnipod in April right before Easter. Overall, we love it!!!! It has given us a lot more freedom and flexibility. We chose the pod because:

It is tubeless
You do not have to wear anything on your belt or pocket
It is waterproof
It is small
It has a PDM that is wireless
IT is Tubeless!!!! Easier for a toddler to keep on his little body.
