Hi, everyone! I am the mother of an 11 year old boy with MODY 2. He was diagnosed with T2D in Oct. 2010, but dx was changed to early T1 in Dec. 2010 when antibody testing showed low levels of two T1 antibodies. In June 2011, genetic testing came back positive for a MODY 2 mutation. He is enrolled in MODY research at the Univ. of Chicago Kovler Diabetes Center. The researchers there are questioning if he might also have another mutation as well, since he has "an atypical MODY 2 presentation". Some of you I know from the MODY group on Facebook (Hi, Laura and Anni!). Glad to meet everyone else!

Welcome to the group...

Interesting to have both MODY2 and antibodies...

Thanks for the welcome, Knightshade! Yes, the positive antibody tests definitely made things a little more puzzling to sort out. I started him on daily doses of Vitamin D and Omega 3 when we got those results, since both are said to be helpful for the immune system. The next time we tested antibodies, both results were back within normal range. I can't say for certain it was the Vitamin D and Omega 3, but I don't think it hurt anything if you kwim. If you are interested, this is the link for the MODY group on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/134389319961461/
