Comment by Florian Menninger Jr on May 11, 2012 at 12:54pm Hello New England Diabetes members. I am still trying to get back on my feet after my Jan accident when I fell on some ice and fractured my hip. I'm walking with a cane but after my physical therapy to build up strength and muscle in the leg I expect to be walking without any assists.

Comment by Florian Menninger Jr on March 17, 2012 at 10:25am I'm always posting something about meetings. Here is one that's coming up soon that is being held in Newton which is close to a number of people in this group.
Its the JDRF Spring Research Briefing and Reception If anyone in this group is planning to go to the JDRF meeting on Tues April 10 from 6 to 9 pm at the Boston Marriott Newton here is a preview of what you will hear about.
http://www.diabetesincontrol.com/articles/53-diabetes-news/12387-th...
You will meet a lot of people of all different ages with T1. In the past there has been an open beer and wine bar and a diabetic friendly buffet (Dinner by the Bite).
JDRF does an excellent job at presenting this event. It's all FREE. Call K. Taranto at the JDRF office at 781-431-0700 by April 2 to get more information or to pre register.
I'm not sure yet if I will be able to go because I'm still recovering from a fractured hip and my mobility is limited. There will be people there from the MA Pumpers Support Group and the new InsulinDependence Boston Chapter Support Group. If you pre-register JDRF will have a name badge for you.

Comment by Jakub on March 9, 2012 at 4:33pm Hello everybody. I guess I am the newest addition to this group, so it's high time I introduced myself!
I got diagnosed on Feb 10th with type 1 and... well, the rest is just like everybody else's case - looking for other people with diabetes for info, support and word of wisdom.
I wish you all a great weekend, guys!
Jakub

Comment by Florian Menninger Jr on January 4, 2012 at 8:53am Hi Everyone,
Here is the Official Announcement about the MA Pumpers meeting. I will be there.
MA Pumpers monthly insulin-pumpers support group meeting will be held on Saturday Jan. 14th from 9:30 AM til noon at Baldwin Park 1 in Woburn (directions below).
If you've not yet made it to any of our meetings this is the one you don't want to miss! We are a small, informal, and welcoming group. All pumpers, potential pumpers and support people are welcome.
Guest speaker this month is Laura Menninger, Diabetes Comedienne The LIVabetes Glucose Goddess (www,LIVabetes.com).
To borrow a little bit of info directly from Laura herself, Laura's performances are rich in humor and practical wisdom. She offers comic relief to what is otherwise a very serious disease.
As a person with type 1 diabetes, she describes herself as a "stand-with" rather than "stand-up" comedienne as her presentations are built on her own personal transformational journey "from DIabetes to LIVabetes".
Please contact me with any questions or to RSVP. I'd appreciate RSVPs from anyone who is coming this month as I want to be sure we have enough room. (dgm555@verizon.net)
Hope to see you there!

Comment by Colleen in NH on December 29, 2011 at 3:39pm We're so busy counting carbs and calculating that there's just no time to post. Happy New Year to all of our New England d-people!
Comment by Florian Menninger Jr on December 29, 2011 at 3:28pm Not a creature was stirring not even a mouse. Its been awfully quiet on this site. Did everyone leave for a warmer climate?. It hasn't been that cold in MA. Here it is Dec 29 and the ground is still bare. Tomorrow it's suppose to be in the 40's and next week/year in the 50's I recently saw a few yellow blooms on a forsythia bush and lilly shoots coming out of the ground in front of my garden shed. Did I miss winter? Don't believe it, we'll get hammered by a nor'easter soon enough. Enjoy the good weather while it lasts.
I had a good Christmas. I took some of the local family members to the Christmas Show at the Citi-Center Wang Theater and we had a great time. After the show we all went to the Calif Pizza Kitchen for dinner. My daughter the LIVabetes Glucose Goddess was with us. Christmas day the family came to our house for dinner and aftewards we had a good old fashioned Yankee Swap. Do you yankees know what that is and how it works?
Just some advanced notice, the MA Pumpers Support Grp will have there monthly meeting on Sat Jan 14, 9:30 am to 12 pm.at our usual place in Woburn, MA. There is a rumor about that there may be a very special guest at the meeting. You might want to mark the date on your new 2012 calendar and plan to come to the meeting. You won't be disappointed :)
A Happy and Healthy New Year to all and I hope to meet some of you at the meeting on Jan 14.You don't have to be a pumper and to attend.
