Yeah, I have taken medication for Diabetes in the last 12 months. Now I am denied short term disability insurance...

HA HA HA HA... I actually have to laugh because I can't do anything else!!! When I started my job 3 years ago (I live in Mass) I did not get the short term disability insurance because it was too much and I wasn't in the position to pay for it having just purchased a home, I wanted to try to save as much cash as possible. Now (3 years later) we want to start a family so during open enrollment at work I wanted to add the STDI and was basically told by Colonial Life that I was not eligible for either the short term or the term life insurance because I have type 1 diabetes and will never be able to apply for it and be accepted.... This seems rather insane to me.

Does anyone living in Massachussetts have any experience with this? The rep was supposed to let me know if he found out any info or other plans they could get me into and I have just left a voicemail with my human resourses director because I was just too busy to call earlier!

Any bit of info would be extremely helpful, thanks!!!

Yes. I live in Mass too. Can't get disability coverage. Can't get life insurance. [shrug]. One of the many crappy things about being diabetic.
