Hi Everyone,I've been on the sidelines lately since I fell and fractured my right hip. It was surgically repaired the same day at U Mass Med Cent. I spent 5 days at a rehab center and now I'm home resting, healing and exercising with the help of a homecare Physical Therapist.
During this whole episode I self managed my diabetes and controlled my own blood sugar. It took a while to get everything back to near normal due to all the trauma, stress, and different foods.
I just wanted to remind you again about the MA pumpers support group meetings on the 2nd Sat of the month in Woburn. The members of this group have been a big help in getting me through this with all of the advice, suggestion, recommendations, and support.

Hey team:

Join my new group the New England Diabetes Nerds for Yoga on February 18th @ 4PM and February 26th @ 12PM around downtown Boston. We have amazing camaraderie and the 26th I will be presenting some new information of upcoming events that could improve your A1C and morale for diabetes. You don't want to miss it! Patrick

Hi Everyone,
Here is the Official Announcement about the MA Pumpers meeting. I will be there.

MA Pumpers monthly insulin-pumpers support group meeting will be held on Saturday Jan. 14th from 9:30 AM til noon at Baldwin Park 1 in Woburn (directions below).
If you've not yet made it to any of our meetings this is the one you don't want to miss! We are a small, informal, and welcoming group. All pumpers, potential pumpers and support people are welcome.

Guest speaker this month is Laura Menninger, Diabetes Comedienne The LIVabetes Glucose Goddess (www,LIVabetes.com).
To borrow a little bit of info directly from Laura herself, Laura's performances are rich in humor and practical wisdom. She offers comic relief to what is otherwise a very serious disease.
As a person with type 1 diabetes, she describes herself as a "stand-with" rather than "stand-up" comedienne as her presentations are built on her own personal transformational journey "from DIabetes to LIVabetes".
Please contact me with any questions or to RSVP. I'd appreciate RSVPs from anyone who is coming this month as I want to be sure we have enough room. (dgm555@verizon.net)
Hope to see you there!

We're so busy counting carbs and calculating that there's just no time to post. Happy New Year to all of our New England d-people!

Not a creature was stirring not even a mouse. Its been awfully quiet on this site. Did everyone leave for a warmer climate?. It hasn't been that cold in MA. Here it is Dec 29 and the ground is still bare. Tomorrow it's suppose to be in the 40's and next week/year in the 50's I recently saw a few yellow blooms on a forsythia bush and lilly shoots coming out of the ground in front of my garden shed. Did I miss winter? Don't believe it, we'll get hammered by a nor'easter soon enough. Enjoy the good weather while it lasts.
I had a good Christmas. I took some of the local family members to the Christmas Show at the Citi-Center Wang Theater and we had a great time. After the show we all went to the Calif Pizza Kitchen for dinner. My daughter the LIVabetes Glucose Goddess was with us. Christmas day the family came to our house for dinner and aftewards we had a good old fashioned Yankee Swap. Do you yankees know what that is and how it works?
Just some advanced notice, the MA Pumpers Support Grp will have there monthly meeting on Sat Jan 14, 9:30 am to 12 pm.at our usual place in Woburn, MA. There is a rumor about that there may be a very special guest at the meeting. You might want to mark the date on your new 2012 calendar and plan to come to the meeting. You won't be disappointed :)
A Happy and Healthy New Year to all and I hope to meet some of you at the meeting on Jan 14.You don't have to be a pumper and to attend.

Yes and am very proud of it. I have been involved in the Joslin research

Hi Geoff, it sounds like you would fit right in with the MA Insulin Pumpers; Do you have your 50 year medal from the Joslin? Its not a requirement, but several members in the pumpers group are 50 year medalists. There are a few members of the group who do come down from ME for the meeting. They don't always make it but whenever they can they are there. I think the weather is suppose to be nice on Sat so come on down and meet everyone.

I live in ME. and I have had type 1 for 59 years. I use Medtronic pump and cgm. This has been working well.

Hello NE Diabetes members. Here is my monthly PSA. I know the meeting is Sat morning but you don't have to be there at 9:30 am. It's light now that we switched back to standard time :) Come later or even in time to go to lunch with the gang around 12 pm. You will enjoy meeting people with diabetes and making new friends. As I've said before its a very friendly, active, knowledgeable, and fun group. You will find find help and support for just about every problem with diabetes. If you've fallen off the wagon with diabetes management and blood sugar control we will pick you up and put you back on :) Come and join us. We're easy to get to from many places in MA, NH, ME, RI, and CT. As far as I know we've never had a person with diabetes or a pumper from VT. Keep reading if you want to come.
