TuDiabetes - A Community for People Touched by Diabetes

Did anyone notice this week was Diabetes Awareness Week in Australia ?
I didn't realise it until I visited my local pharmacy yesterday to pick up some test strips. All the staff were wearing Diabetes Awareness Week T-Shirts. I've also heard several adds on the radio about the IGA Supermarket chain donating money to help kids get insulin pumps but no actual mention of Awareness Week, I also noticed the July edition of Readers Digest had a Diabetes Management supplement attached. I'm a bit surprised there wasn't more mention of it in the press (or maybe I need to get out more). Did anyone else come across any activities or promotions ?

My son and I both have T1D and I wrote to the local paper last week in relation to Diabetes Awareness Week to raise awareness - at the suggestion of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) which had asked all their youth ambassadors and parents of kids with T1D to do to help. My letter was not published in favour of letters which I didn't personally think all that important. I haven't seen one mention anywhere of Diabetes Awareness Week so it is obviously not too exciting to anybody unless they can make some money out of it.
