I just found this website recently and I'm really happy about this. I'm getting fantastic information and I'm able to relate to other stories. I have woken up in the middle of the night because of low blood sugar. I've gone for walks and have run out of steam in need of carbs and that wasn't good. I'm learning and will continue to learn if I stay with the folks here. They certainly would understand me as I understand them. Thanks for all the stories.

ok so im new to diabetes. i was diagnosed in July 2009. but here is my story

i had went to the dentist and told them my mouth was always dry & stuff like that & i had been pre diabetic for yrs & she said NO i am diabetic. so it freaked me out & i had stopped takin my metformin, well i started takin it again, bt totally wrong so my body was over reacting. i couldnt see, walk, talk, or even stand. it was like this for like 3 days but i finally told my mom to take me to the hospital. well when i got there, they checked my sugar, and it was over 1000. believe me or not. its true. the doctors were telling me how lucky i am to even be alive. well then i almost went into a diabetic coma. i was in ICU for a week. very scary

Well my experience started at the age of 2 years and now I am 25 so a very long time with it,thank God I dnt have any major complications.
Since the day I was diagnosed I was on the mixtard insulin and in august went into hospital with ketons and got changed to novorapid and glagin but glagin was not working as it should,so for the second time spent a night in hospital with ketons and now iam on levemir and novorapid.
I am very well organised and look after myself even though sometimes it does get me angry and annoyed but what can I do but have a good old rant and get on with it.

If we dont look after our diabetes then we will regret it later on in life.

To Clarence and YoGi:

I've been at this since 1958. Almost kicked in 1978. Still strong with no comps. Just keep beating the odds. YoGi life will be as long as you want it to be JUST DO IT! Clarence how may I be helpful in your education efforts etc.

thanks for inviting me noor...
i am a young indian male from capital delhi .i was diagnosed 3 years back now i m 21 years old.. i didnt took it seriously first, acted normal but i was realy starting to going down.. then i had to accept it & find the right solution. at first i tried realy hard to control it just from dieting and exercises but it didnt realy helped.. me so i started to take insulin injection and i still taking injection like every day before meals. & it realy hels..
sometime i just ask myself how much time do i hv & d only answer i find is not much. so i actualy pretend to be happy & normal every day..but i m happy when i completly forget about it . so i try not to think about it that much & just live with it..

well i think we all have diabetes coz we can live with it,this life is a lil bit hard for those who dont understand it and easy for those who understood.i use to teach ppl how to control their mind and how to be calm but i learned so many great things here at tudiabetes.
