Comment by Jessyca Burgess on April 1, 2012 at 6:17pm Hi Jessica, welcome. Your current A1C would not be safe to conceive. Drs generally like it tto be 7 or lower. How often do you test your sugars. The best way I've found to control is both through low carb diet and frequent testing and adjustment of sugar levels. Eat and adjust insulin to your meter. If you haven't read it I'd recommend books Think Like a Pancreas, or also even Diabetes Solution by Richard Bernstein. I'd try approaching this from a new angle. You can do it! Best wishes.
Comment by Jessyca Burgess on March 31, 2012 at 10:29pm 39 Weeks today and going strong. Waiting for baby Lauren to make her appearance any time now. On scarily huge dose of insulin (50 units basal and 50+ units of humalog), but still maintaining pretty good control and no more lows in the past week (usually between 70 and 120, extremely rare to be above 140).
I'm at 27 weeks and over the last week have really hit some insulin resistance. My rates are now double what they were pre-pregnancy. With DD#1, I experienced slightly more resistance but it was later, so we'll see how this compares.
38 weeks now. Off to see my Obe in a while. I guess she'll do U/S to measure the baby. Have to discuss birth plan with her. I don't want to be induced!
