Comment by Lilli on May 12, 2013 at 1:20pm Would anyone be interested in starting a separate group about [diabetic] breast feeding? We could try to find an experienced lactation consultant to moderate it.
Comment by Super_sally on April 20, 2013 at 6:41am got permission to try again for no. 2 (will be an IUI cycle)
Comment by Sharon Fung on April 16, 2013 at 10:11am 38 weeks today! Going to go talk with my ob about the likelihood of trying for a vbac. They did an ultrasound to measure the thickness of my uterine scar last week (it's only been 16 months since my first c-section) The baby's in the 98th percentile-surprise surprise! So we may schedule the c-section if the scar thickness is unfavourable. At this point I don't really mind. I just can't wait to meet this little baby!
Comment by Kristin on April 4, 2013 at 12:57am My doctor wanted me at 6.5, but we actually started trying at 6.8. So you are not far, but do as much as you can to improve things and avoid long lasting highs.
Are you on insulin? For me it helped when I started giving my insulin 20 minutes before eating. I also started eating on a schedule and about the same amount of carbs everyday which made things more predicatable.
Comment by Chaya on April 4, 2013 at 12:06am I am 37 years old and been diabetic for 16 years now. I worry about my meds, and my biological clock. I am told that my hemoglobin a1c needs to be better than 6.8 before I even consider pregnancy. Some of my meds are not safe with pregnancy, I also have hypertension, and high cholesterol meds. I feel like my window of oppertunity is shutting! how do I improve my numbers? It seems diabetes continues to progress as I get older?!
Comment by Rose Joelle on March 31, 2013 at 7:35am Thank you. I really really appreciate the feedback. Its been an emotional week. Today I am realizing I must be more ready or at least wanting this more than I thought because Im worried over having hardly any "symptopms" *I heart that is fairly normal. I am doing my best to do everything right with glucose levels and nutrition and the rest is just going to have to get figured out as we go along!
Comment by Sharon Fung on March 26, 2013 at 9:00am Rose, I've been pregnant twice. The first time I was terrified and panicked. Both times I've regretted ever even thinking about getting pregnant for most of the first trimester. Honestly, I hate being pregnant! But when that baby comes and especially as you see that baby grow and develop a personality then you see how it's all worth. Never feel bad about not loving being pregnant or a parent ALL OF THE TIME. I can honestly say that it took me a good year to really get to the point where I reveled in parenthood (and by that time I was pregnant again) I love being mum to my 15 month old, she is so much fun and lots of work too. I found the pregnancy and the first year challenging (not without it's joys however) And mixed into all of that is the whole diabetes thing! Congratulations on your pregnancy, you have 9 months to get used to the idea and to get ready to welcome a whole new person into your lives. Like Kristen said, if you've any questions just ask, lots of diabetic mommas ready to help (we're preparing for our second now-just 5 more weeks!)
