So we found out yesterday that #2 is on the way! I just met with my endo two weeks ago and my A1C is 6.0 (yea!) and my TSH is 5.6 (not so "yea!"). We upped my synthroid. I know that ideal is nder 2, but my question is what are the risks to the baby? Google isn't helping me out, so I'd appreciate anything you've got. Thanks!

I'm not sure if this will help you but I had elevated TSH in my first trimester. I had never had a problem with my thyroid before. I talked to my endo about it and here's what he said. The HGh amino acid mimics the thyroid hormone causing elevations in the first trimester. He said it usually rights itself in the 2nd trimester and in my case it did. We never talked about what could happen because it corrected itself. Maybe this will happen with you also.

Thanks, Heather! I figured if it were "really bad" that google would say something about it. I know that it is less than ideal, but it is what it is. Glad to know that yours righted itself. I had no issues with these fluctuation on the first go round...
