Hi.
I found this website and thought I would give it a shot. I'm 18 almost 19. I am married; my husband is Active Duty in the Army. I am 22 weeks pregnant with a baby boy. My husband could not be more excited that our first turned out to be a boy. I have Type 1; and have had it since the 8th grade. I haven't met any other pregnant women who have had pre-existing diabetes. Just wanted to introduce myself.

Permalink Reply by Cherise on March 30, 2012 at 8:51pm Welcome and congratulations on your baby boy! I had my first child (a baby boy) August 23rd, 2011. We have actually decided to go for baby #2 and I might possibly be preggo. If not we are hoping very soon. I also came here because I knew no other local Type 1 diabetics who were pregnant. I had lots of people around me that were but none with Type 1. I knew like 10 other people who were pregnant and due around the same time I was.
So when's your exact due date? Is your OB allowing you to go to 40 weeks? Mine was going to at first until she noticed that my son was growing big and that was because they had my due date wrong. He was 6 lbs 13 ozs.
Permalink Reply by mhynes on April 6, 2012 at 8:22am My doctor would like me to deliver around 39 weeks. So far baby is measuring fine. . . but it is common practice with type 1's since there can be issues with the placenta.

I am type 1 as well since I was 15 years old. I am will be 29 weeks on Monday. Wishing you the best and there are lots of great ladies here who can answer lots of questions you may have.
Permalink Reply by Kate on April 2, 2012 at 1:22pm Congratulations! My first (a boy as well!) was born on 2/8/12. Pregnancy and T1 was a lot of work, but he was worth all of it!
Permalink Reply by kestrel on April 3, 2012 at 8:18am Welcome and good luck! I'm, um, a little older than you, but also working on my first with T1 and Hashimoto's. I'm 33 1/2 weeks now, and everything is good so far.
Permalink Reply by mhynes on April 4, 2012 at 7:52am Do I get points for this being my first baby?
Sorry I have a competitive streak. LOL!
Permalink Reply by kestrel on April 5, 2012 at 8:59am Sorry, m, it's my first baby too. I still win!!! lol
(but it's nice to know that I'm not the only elderly person in the group)
Permalink Reply by kms on April 3, 2012 at 1:42pm congrats to you and your hubby! I'm 30 weeks along with baby #2 - a boy. it's been a challenge but pregnancy is so amazing. I hope you are feeling well and enjoying the good moments! Are you feeling the baby move yet? That is hands down my favorite part of pregnancy.

Permalink Reply by Trishaleerobin on April 3, 2012 at 4:01pm I'm due August 3rd but the baby has been measuring 2 weeks ahead since 11 weeks. My current high risk ob is not going to let me go past 38 weeks but I am moving to where my husband is in late May early June so I'm not sure how they do things. And yes I am feeling the baby move a lot. He is very active!
Congrats and nice meeting you!! I have been type 1 for 18 years now and I am expecting my first baby on Aug 6th!! I am 22 weeks at the moment :). We are having a girl and we are super excited!! We should stay in touch since we are having our little ones around the same time. She is also measuring a bit bigger as well and has been since week 9 or so.
