Today I received a message that they now started distributing the new PDM (black) in the Netherlands. The new Pod will be available at the end of September or beginning of October.
Would you be willing to take and share photos of a used pod underneath? I am interested to see how much of the pod is attached to the adhesive pad. I hope Insulet increased the area coverage so the pod will be harder to knock off. Thanks for sharing!!
Agreed! I'd like to see the underside (and welding points) as well.
Regarding the pics above, that pink indicator box seems a bit, uh, unnecessary? I guess I don't really see the "usefulness" of that thing, if it just has some sort of slide that fills in the box with pink color once it has deployed the canula. But that's a different conversation all-together :)
Thanks Herman for posting some pics!
I found a nice photo comparing a disassembled new Pod and an old one
The automatic insertion system seems to have changed a lot: the needle which pushes the canula underskin is quite different and the spring was substituted by a torsion spring.
A picture of the underside. I used a highlighter to show the sticky parts. A liitle bit more than the old one and a smaller, lighter pod. Better than the old one.
Thank you so much for sharing!!
I spent a day in a health/spa with plenty of sauna, swimmingpool and whirlpool. Perfect the pod is still working fine also. The insuline (Novorapid) is not giving any problems and works fine. I did this always with the 1st gen. and must say that there is no difference with the 2nd gen. Great.
I have started today with the new pods. To be honest: yes physically they are smaller but while wearing you don"t notice any difference.
I'm actually more interested in the new PDM. It calculates all insulin on board now, correct? (Important for us with little people, when others are bolusing them).
No, unfortunately for you, the calculation system has not changed.
Barend didn't your old PDM count all insulin on board? If so, then yes, there is "no change" for you. However in the US we currently only have calcs for IOB based on correction boluses, not on food boluses...that is something that is supposed to be coming w/ the 2nd gen release to the US. I think that's to what Jen is referring.
See pg 7 of the PDF associated w/ this discussion about the new PDM user guide for reference of what we're looking forward to :)
