Hi Everyone, my name is Alan and I have been reading the topics in this group since October which is when I decided to give up the injections after 19 years and start pumping with the OmniPod. I went live with the OmniPod 3 weeks ago (after a week of saline) and could not be happier. Since going live I have had to make some tweaks to my settings (so easy with the PDM) and have tried multiple sites with out any problems. I am still trying new sites/pod orientations to work out a standard rotation schedule. So far I have not experienced any of the common issues that I have read about and hope that continues - knock on wood.

I just wanted to thank everyone in this group for all of the helpful discussions and information that led me to choose the OmniPod and to have great success so far.

I will try my best to be more active in this group and share my experiences to hopefully help others in the same way it has helped me.

Thank you!

Hey thanks Alan. I am 'live' now too since 12-1-2011....3 weeks. :) I love it. No more 5 shots a day! I am still having trouble w/some high (200+) BG and was only able to get the Copilot software to download once. They say I have to sit w/a Copilot specialist on the phone from 8-4 weekedays for help. Sadly, my software is on my home computer while I am in my chair at work from 8-5 weekdays. I'll figure something out.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I need to post more as well. I visited more often when I was debating and considering the Pod. Loving it now. Take care.

Also... I was so worried about the carb counting and it is so not a problem. If I can't find a source I can easily 'guesstimate'. Just eating too many bad carbs is still a problem. LOL.

Hi Ellie. Yeah, getting rid of the shots and everything everything that goes along with that is awesome. Sorry to hear about your high BG issue, you will have it all dialed in soon. I have not tried CoPilot yet because I have a Mac and do not want to run VMware just to get Windoz on my computer. My CDE has Copilot on her computer and I will try it out when I see her on Monday.

For the Carb counting I use the CalorieKing app for the iPhone. It is great and has almost anything you can find to eat, and if it doesn't it provides enough info for you to pretty accurately get to the right number. Living in NY (Long Island) does cause a problem as Pizza, Bagels and rolls are way higher in carbs than what I can find in the app - I've got those all figured out now :)

Thanks again.

I have a primative phone but got a Nook for Xmas. (Ho,ho,ho to me!) I love CalorieKing. I got the book but it is too much hassle to drag around and out all the time.

Have you tried using your food library built in the PDM? It's a great source of fat and carbs in just about every food you could think of. I've been on the pod since 2007 and I love it. Good luck.

Good luck to you...I hope all continues to go well.

Congratulations!!! I couldn't even imagine giving myself shots again, that's all in the past!! Love my OmniPod.
