I was wondering if I could see pictures of where you are putting pods on your school age kiddos. We've been podding for a little over a year and at D camp in June they said DD needed rotate a bit more as her arms were getting those somewhat swollen insulin areas (lipotrophy?? is that the word?). It's very mild, but once they pointed it out I could see it.
So currently we are using the back of her arms, pointing the pod up is where the lipotrophy is occurring so we've been pointing it down instead, to get away from that spot. We've also been trying to move up and down more. Then we are using each side of her belly, and then her hips, just below her waistline, and we've been trying to turn the pods pointing in and out to vary.
I just feel like, in each of those areas there is not enough real estate to really vary the location, just enough room to flip it back and forth.
We did thigh a couple of times shortly after starting, but absorption wasn't good, and she knocked one of the two off which she hasn't done much in any other location.
Maybe I am overestimating the amount of fat she needs for a site to be successful? She is 51" tall, so she's not super little or anything.
We've looked at the lovehandle area, but I don't think she has enough chub, the CDE at camp didn't think she did either.
That's pretty much everywhere we use, except the thighs. I'm more wondering about the rotation within those areas.
why not get her a bands for life for her thigh then?
We got pretty poor absorption on her thighs when we did try it. I don't want to double her insulin just to use a site. I suppose we can give it a try again, it's been a year.
She's not 5ft 1in, she's 51" or 4ft, 3in. Only 7 years old, so her body is still very narrow. That's the main issue is there is no left/right wiggle room, it seems.
