....to put your pods? Just curious.
Alomst my underarm slightly below. Doesnt hit anything, doesnt catch on bra strap or spaghetti strap. And hard to believe but you dont feel it pressing against you. I never know its there.
The back of my upper arms & the outside of my upper thighs
Triceps area 90+% of the time. During baseball/football season, or if I know I have to throw a ball, I'll alternate between belly and non-throwing arm. I don't recommend wearing on your forehead. :)
I like the back of my arms and abdomen both for comfort and results. I used to wear on my thighs but had absorption issues there. I may try again though. I currently use my butt also, but am starting to notice absorption issues. It was interesting what Grace wrote about "tunneling". Just like she said, after about 2 days I do not get very good insulin response. I also notice more bruising here than anywhere else.
I have some questions for Steve and all of you back users. How does the back of you calf work? Compared to all other spots it seems to have so little fatty tissue to go into? I may try my back also. I'm guessing everyone places the pod similar to the abdomen only on the back? Any abosorption issues?
Backs of my arms and lower back/butt area. I haven't had absorption issues with either one. I've been wanting to try my legs but don't know the best area on the legs with how muscular they are. Any idea?
During the summer I use my thighs - and in the winter I use the back of my arms. Absorbtion is similar in both places although perhaps just a bit faster on the arms. In the summer the arm placement can be problematic when I sweat alot which is why I gravitate to the thigh. The pod sits on my thigh in a way that it just looks like I have a pack of gum in my pocket, so it's very innocuous and quite comfortable.
I have been using Omnipods going on two years now, my best sites are my triceps (back of the arms) and the transverse abdominus (i.e. love handles!) -- for my medium build these sites seem to be best at making it through all 3 days without occlusions or soreness/redness/bleeding (the aesthetics of some adhesive residue are another discussion altogether -- thank goodness for goo-gone!). Usually for sites to work they have to have a fatty layer attached to them for consistent delivery (not saying fatty tissue is the best adsorption, but definitely the most consistent/predictable in my case).
Lots of people liking the arms, huh? I've only been on the pod for 2 months, and have to agree the arms are pretty comfortable. Although I find myself bumping it on doorways. My front of my thigh is really comfortable too, especially for sleeping. I discovered my lower back isn't always successful because it isn't flat enough, and I've had two pods' cannulas come out.
Hello-- I'm recently diagnosed with type one. Just joined this site. I'm strongly considering the omni-pod as soon as I get a good handle on th MDI routine. Forgive me if this is a silly question-- Are the men who use the omnipod shaving the site to get it to adhere better?
Hey....excuse my use of cliche....but especially on this site and under the circumstances there really is no such thing as a "silly question." Welcome to our close knit family....Sorry for the situation. I (now to your question) have been a pod user since its launch about a decade ago and have found that only when I put the pod on my thigh do I need to shave, and the back of my calf (which is my favorite spot). I hope you are adjusting to your new "friend'...and can achieve Peace. Good Luck, man.
no shaving for me, but i've never had any adhesion issues with the pod. I run, go in the pool, coach baseball etc. and I still have to tear the pod off my skin when it's time to change sites.
