This group is dedicated to giving OmniPod users a place to discuss and share our experiences so that we may grow and help each other "make diabetes a smaller part of our lives."
Please note: the exchange, sale or giveaway of items between members that require a prescription from a licensed practitioner, including insulin pumps and pump supplies, is not allowed on TuDiabetes.
We encourage you to donate supplies to non-profits such as the Charles Ray III Diabetes Association and Insulin for Life, which accept insulin pumps and pump supplies (as well as other diabetes-related prescription items).
You can also approach your physician's office or local medical groups to discuss donating them to those in need of assistance in your area.

Thank you, Jojo, for the information....I look forward to seeing it myself!
Comment by jojo on January 15, 2012 at 11:36am my daughter and I were involved with "Solo" research back in November, we were really excited as its would be competition for omnipod, but after spending 4 hours there trialing it , I dont see it as the answer to omnipod. First of all the system is made of 2 different parts, one gets changed more frequently then the other, (reservior detaches from the pump) I was not impressed and it was hard to use. just my 2 cents.
I wonder also, Puter! I am waiting on that and also the Roche launch of the "Solo" pump! It looks like the Soilo willl solve some of Inulet's issues, we'll have to see! And yes, FHS, I will be posting my MDI journey every day...AND the search for a new (more reliable) non tubed pump daily also!
Comment by Putertech on January 15, 2012 at 10:08am Wonder if their smaller pods will be more reliable....
Comment by FHS on January 15, 2012 at 9:46am Please do! I know I've had those times when I was just a couple more bad pods away from chucking the whole thing too. It would be nice to see more viable options out there besides, "just relax and breath." At the very least, Insulet needs to keep on its toes.
Thank you, Fred. I will keep you posted!
Comment by FHS on January 15, 2012 at 9:13am Best of luck to you Steve. Hope you find that option.
so....last night I was fast asleep at 3:30 am when my wife woke me and said "I hear a long steady beep coming from your side...Is that your pod?" And sure enough it was. Second one this WEEK to do this, totally aggravating. Had to get up at an ungodly time and change ANOTHER $#@%ing Pod! Then, wile I was trying to replace the #$%@ing thing when I went to inject the insulin into the 'reservoir' the needle just wuldnt go into the tiny hole, so it was ANOTHER BAD POD! I must say, these things are great conceptually, but Insulet has really dropped the ball when it comes to implementation! Going back to MDI (Ive tried the "Ping" and just cant adjust to the tubing.....so MDI Is the only option for now....gonna wait with my eyes open for another option).
Comment by Jeff on January 12, 2012 at 7:05pm I saw this article today on facebook about stem cell treatment for type 1
follow this link to the article

I have been using duracell batteries and there's been no problem. However when I changed batteries the other day, when the PDM turned back on, it said I had to deactivate my current pod which was only about one day old and I had no choice but to do it. That's never happened before. So in the future, I guess I will coordinate battery changes to when the pods expire.
