I use Energizer lithium ultimate batteries. They are more costly than regular alkalines but I prefer not changing my batteries that often. The PDM's brain is based on alkaline voltage so with a lithium battery it reads full for the majority of the battery's lifespan, then reads about 80% for a week or so, then drops from there to 0 very, very quickly. I have some extras stashed around (at work in my office, in my bag when I'm traveling, etc) so I'm never really "without" a backup set, and I change them out when it's convenient but before the screen has reached the completely exhausted symbol. I usually get about 8 to 10 weeks on a set. But, I also push the power button immediately after the confirmation beeps from my bolus, and even turn the screen off manually after the beeps when I'm doing a pod change and it has completed the priming process and is telling me to apply the pod to my body. This means the screen is on for as little time as is possible to save battery life...

Rechargeable batteries supply slightly lower voltage which drops as the battery discharges. and since the PDM determines charge by voltage it will never "see" a full charge. Recgargeable Lithium are good for 500 or less recharges.
BTW, I've had my PDM for a month now and have changed standard batteries three times allready.

I use the energizer + batteries. They last a LONG time!!

Seems like a viable idea. I might have been the last of us to switch to a 2nd gen PDM and I notice that the batteries don't last as long as with my old one. I use the Kirkland brand batteries from Costco and haven't had the pultergeist off and on situations that others have had but they don't last long.

About a month ago I stopped using regular batteries. I purchased a Rayovac recharger which came with two AAA batteries and purchased four additional batteries. All together I spent about $30.00.

When I put the recharged batteries in the PDM it shows they have about 3/4 of life left and never shows completely full. The recharged batteries last about five days but I always replace them when I change my pod every three days. The day before I need to change my pod I recharge the old batteries and use those to put in the PDM. I also keep a pair of charged batteries with the PDM should the batteries go low.

I think over time I will save money on purchasing batteries constantly and will help reduce waste.

Is there anyone else using recharagable batteries?

Yikes, BennyL! That would not be a fun thing to deal with regularly. VaMike....I use Nexcare flexible clear tape to hold it down if the pod looks like it might want to detach. In a pinch, a bandaid or two will work. Don't be too nervous. I have pulled and banged mine pretty badly without it coming off.

I find that when my son has allowed his batteries to go very low, the PDM loses connection to the pod. In our case, I have considered it our fault since the PDM had been warning him about low batteries and he chose to ignore the warning.

Last night, I replaced my pod. A couple of hours later, I noticed the batteries were low, so I changed them. When I did this, it did not save any of my history. It shut down my new pod and wanted a new pod. I called customer service and they were very helpful, telling me it should not have happened, and noted it. She said if it happened again to let them know and they would send me a new PDM.

Has anyone else had this problem? I'd like to hear your comments.

hey everyone I love it so far the only problem I have is it seems the pod is in danger of coming off of the sticky stuff in one of the corners by the viewing window. I was just wondering if anyone else has had this issue and if so what is a solution to stop it from actually coming off and preventing it from happening on future pods
