This group is dedicated to giving OmniPod users a place to discuss and share our experiences so that we may grow and help each other "make diabetes a smaller part of our lives."
Please note: the exchange, sale or giveaway of items between members that require a prescription from a licensed practitioner, including insulin pumps and pump supplies, is not allowed on TuDiabetes.
We encourage you to donate supplies to non-profits such as the Charles Ray III Diabetes Association and Insulin for Life, which accept insulin pumps and pump supplies (as well as other diabetes-related prescription items).
You can also approach your physician's office or local medical groups to discuss donating them to those in need of assistance in your area.

Comment by HPNpilot on July 3, 2012 at 8:41am What kind of error messages/codes are you getting ? Does Insulet say anything?
Comment by HPNpilot on July 3, 2012 at 8:31am That is very high, by my (albeit limited) experience. I have been through 8 boxes now (80) and only had 3 with potential problems. Only one did the BEEEEEP Pod Error. Insulet replaced them.
Comment by jms1313 on July 3, 2012 at 8:24am Does anyone have any input on the failure rate of the PODS - my 7 year old is getting error messages on 25% - out of the last 28 - 7 have failed? Frustrating - put one on yesterday after her bath and two hours later BEEEEEEP - waste of insulin and pod. She was laying in bed when it went off.
Comment by Gary on July 1, 2012 at 8:57am That is in line with Omnipod general instructions. BTW insulin absorption rate varies greatly with different sites - even 1/2 inch apart. Pinching the skin upward while pressing down on the pod fronthelps cannula insertion greatly. If the cannula is inserted while above muscle tissue the cannula is flexible enough to bend and lie against the muscle rather than in.
Comment by Gary on July 1, 2012 at 8:51am I believe FHS is right! I never did get any good advice from the people at Insulet!
Comment by FHS on June 30, 2012 at 12:36pm I'm just speculating but maybe the recommended orientations are because the result would be the cannula being inserted parallel to muscle striation. Maybe inserting the cannula accross muscle striation increases the chance of it getting hung up and causing an occlusion.
Like I said, just speculation.
Comment by Gil DePaula on June 30, 2012 at 12:17pm Thanks Erik. That's what I thought. Pointing up or down does not matter.
Comment by Ray on June 30, 2012 at 2:23am Okay ,thanks every one.
Comment by HPNpilot on June 29, 2012 at 4:18pm Pinching up is important if the area is lean...and I have had problems with pods on my arms leaking/not delivering well on occasion. If the cannula gets in muscle rather than fat it can be painful as you move around as well as not working well. If you take the pod off and it looks like blood was leaking underneath, it probably wasn't a good site.
