It sounds like a planter's wart? Could that be?

sounds like a planters wart....almost sounds like a skin doctor would do you better then a podiatrist.

Funny, I just returned from a foot doctor for the same thing. Our pediatrician said it was a corn/callus-- but the foot doctor said it was a wart. So apparently it's hard to tell! He said you could use over-the-counter wart medication (not in people with neuropathy, if you can't feel your feet, but I'm sure it's fine for your child). (My son is 6 and has had T1 for over 4 years). Or, you could go to a foot doctor of course. He cut off the top of it and put medication on to kill the virus, and we go back in 2 weeks for another treatment. He said it will be faster this way, but the over-the-counter stuff will work also. He said the warmer weather probably contributes-- they are starting to show up (we are in the north). I thought it was switching from boots to shoes...

Yep, I have just had a Plantar's Wart removed and that sounds suspiciously like mine. Nothing T1 related.

My type 1 son had a plantar's wart just like this also. The over the counter medicine says to consult your doctor if you have diabetes, but my doc assured me that was really for type 2, or people who have had type 1 a long time and are suffering neuropathy - not a healthy kid whose only had diabetes for 2 years.

I had a plantar's wart (I am not diabetic) 10 years ago - tried the topical stuff for weeks and ended up going to a podiatrist anyway ( they use something to freeze it- I don't remember any pain)- if possible, I say go to the podiatrist and have him remove it - much quicker!

FOLLOW-UP...... 4/25 We went to the podiatrist who said it was a plantar's wart. He filed down the callus covering it to open it and told us to soak in green tea in at least 104 degree water for 10 min each night (said whatever acid in the tea helps to kill the virus and works well in children, not so well in adults) and to use the Dr Scholls wart remover pads and 6-8 wks it should be gone but if not come back. Well, we did this for several days/nights w/ no real change so I did a little internet research and people were swearing by apple cider vinegar. So, I continued his plan but added the acv. After the evening soak I would place a small cotton pad soaked in acv over the site and cover with duct tape. Today is 5/5 and it completely fell out tonight :) Gonna continue for a day or two just to make sure it's gone but this sure beats 6-8 wks and surgery!!!!
