Hello Everyone,
Does anyone have an advice on Summer Camp. I have a 7 year old and we really want to send him to camp this summer. There are two camps, both supported by DYF. One is Camp De Los Ninos near Santa Cruz and the other is Bearskin Meadows...Fresno area. Has anyone had any experience with either of these camps?

We have only been to Family Camp, but I have heard great things about both Bearskin and De Los Ninos. I don't think you can go wrong with either.

I have a friend who, many years ago, worked at Bearskin and said it was amazing. I can't wait to hear more from others, though, as I am also looking at camps. We will go to Gales Creek in Oregon, but before my son's diagnosis this last October, I had him in an outdoor wilderness program (part in-camp, part trail/canoe tripping) that he loved. Sadly, they do not serve type 1 kiddos. Does anyone know of a wilderness program for our t1d's? Truth be told, this has been an area very difficult for me to come to terms with, as I was so geared to my kids gaining the confidence and skills one gets on extended backpack/canoe trips.

I am 85% sure that bearskin meadow is doing an artificial pancreas trial this summer with stanford. They may both be, but I'd like to hear others we are making the same decision for kennedy who is 12. But fresno vs bay area is no contest!! we will be flying and so rest of us will vacay while she is at camp
