We have my 3 yr old on a new hybrid regime. She takes humalog to cover breakfast and supper, humulin N (taken at breakfast) to cover lunch, and lantus as background insulin. This is all in an effort to avoid lunch time insulin in young school age kids who cannot do their own dosing yet. I am wondering how many other parents doing MDI do it this way and what kind of success they have had. it works pretty good, but I am having trouble with post lunch highs due to the variability of when the N peaks.
