I usually check her before I go to bed (10ish) if she's below 200 at bed time. If she's really low at bed time, I give her a snack, test her before I go to bed and, depending on that number I may set my alarm and wake up between midnight and 2 am. She has pretty drastic drops at night which is why I feel more comfortable if she's 200 or above at bed. If she's low when I test her in the middle of the night (below 90), I give her some juice or a snack.

It has proven difficult to get rest at night for us, too...

We check Willow every night about midnight. If her number is above 150 I do not check again until morning (unless she is very high - like last night she was 450 at midnight - gave her 2.3 units and then rechecked at 2 - 212 and 4am 98. She woke at 7:00 and was 128)

If I check her at midnight and she is under 150 but over 90 I recheck in an hour - if she is under 90 I make her drink some juice (about 4 oz - usually).

If she is really low - we treat for a low and check often.

Usually we have relatively smooth nights - but here in the past few days we have been having more highs and I think a basal change is in order . . .

good luck - yes we have very few fully rested nights as well.

Hi ! What do you do for the night ? Do you wake up, at what time... do you give something to eat at 22 ? For us, it's very difficult to pass the night very quiet...

Hi I just wanted to say Welcome to the newbies on here! I am a mom to a Type 1 D as of last July. I cannot believe that 10 months have gone by. Willow will go to her first D camp (sleep away!!) this summer. We have been very blessed that her management has been relatively smooth . . .however we are not without the days in the 300s and the days in the 30s - but we get up each day and plug on . . .
My DH also has D and so does his sister. She was dx at age 12 and he was dx at age 24. I remember starting a family and being told that it was very unlikely that any of our children would have D . . .And look where we are now. We are also watching our youngest Daughter who is showing early signs . . .

Hi, my name is Anastasia and my son Kristian was diagnosed about two months ago. He is two years old, and he is currently transitioning out of the honeymoon phase. A very frustrating time, so I will probably be on here a lot asking many questions!

Hi everyone, my name is Sebi and I'm new here at tudiabetes.com I am writing from South Africa. My daughter was diagnosed in 2006 when she was 3 years old She is now 6 and started primary school this year. She went on the pump last year. (minimed paradigm 712) I would love to hear from other parents. I am also interested in finding out if CGMs can be used by kids.
